Players that we need to get rid of to get better.

That list is way too long to be reasonably satisfied. IIRC, the Panthers have eight picks in this year's draft. You'd have to hope that ALL eight picks were replacement level or better (highly unlikely) and you could fill the other spots with free agents.

The list needs to be pared down to it's critical elements - the personnel who are likely not to improve via a new defensive coordinator or new head coach (since most believe both are coming). We also need to consider salary, as a replacement level player is fine, as long as they don't break the bank.

Therefore, I would submit the list of players not invited back should be:

Matt Kalil (obvious), Captain Munnerlyn, Corn Elder, Torrey Smith, Greg Olsen, Devin Funchess and Shaq Thompson. There's a good amount of savings to be had there to be spent on replacements who could be just as effective, if not more so, at a lesser cost.

I didn't include Vernon Butler, because he will not be overly expensive and I would like to see what a new DC would be able to extract from him in a contract year.

It's been a bad year, mostly in the second half of the season. The important thing now is to take positive action without OVER reacting.

Yea agree.

ROI is a huge factor for the guys with sizeable contracts. Olsen and Shaq being the most difficult for me personally.

Separate from the contract specifics, and to make things simple, I generally put players into 3 categories first.

-Good/Great player

-Serviceable/Solid player

-Ass ( Ass category could be from lack of talent, father time, lack of motivation, etc)

Like @Chaos said,  we cant have 53 pro bowlers and every team must have serviceable guys that act as role players. When the team is playing well, the role players add value.  Ass players are not only a liability, they make even good players look poor at times.

Sometimes i focus more on the good players but i believe if you take a close look at championship teams, the make up would be: a few good/great players, a high percentage of serviceable/solid and very few Ass.

I 'm hoping the coach (current or new) can make the difficult but critical decision to determine the fine line between serviceable and ass.

Casual fans look at INTs when trying to determine quality in CBs which isn't a true testament to performance. Bradberry had some rough games last season but he has shown out pretty damn well in 2018.

That's all there is to it. He's good to keep around IMO

If you notice it's mostly Norman fanboys that bash the kid.  Some just can't get over that.  They still worship that guy even though he hasn't done poo since he got paid for one good season of play.

I'm pretty much a Norman fanboy myself, but it's just weird to take that situation out on Bradberry.

    • Recap - Baltimore's fake tush push was pure genius. - I hate Denver intensely. The more they win, the more I hate them. - Dillon Gabriel is arguably the NFL's worst QB.  - Shadeur Sanders is worse than Dillon Gabriel. - Aaron Glenn is a complete idiot. - Sam Darnold celebrated his return to the NFL.  - The people trying to jettison Brock Purdy got pretty quiet. He is actually better than Mac Jones, albeit not by enough to justify that contract difference. - fug Aaron Rodgers. - JJ McCarthy is quickly descending to Dillon Gabriel/Justin Fields depths of QB play. His alter ego "Nine" might be the remaining games he has as Vikings starter at this rate. - Trevor Lawrence still sucks. - Stock way up for Jacoby Brissett on the Panthers Veteran QB We Should Pursue in the 2026 Free Agency. If he can be obtained at a reasonable price, he would be a massive upgrade over Andy Dalton. Mariota and Winston are lesser options but potentially cheaper.
    • The “lack of” was more noticeable in this game than the last few weeks.  Not sure why, but ATL blocked everything up really well, and just from memory, it didn’t seem like we sent much extra pressure outside of 4.  We will definitely need more of it against SF.  They’ll be getting the ball out quick and Purdy is annoyingly elusive and mobile. Also, again, I really want to see Princely get more reps.
    • Why? People just want to feel good.
