Would the Panthers be interested in Greedy Williams?

Greedy is a top 5 pick in any draft

And the top CB out of DBU since Peterson.   Dude is more hyped than Lattimore for the Saints when he came out

If he is there we will grab him amd just wait and get one of those talented DL that will still be around in the 2nd.  You just dont turn down a talent like that when your secondary, while isnt the biggest weakness, it is still shaky and your #1 CB is going into his final year of his contract

This^^^ great points, and how big of a fug up would it be to let him go to the Buccaneers? I would just be so sick If that happened... I'm talking dry heaving on the toilet sick.

The only way I would want to take Greedy is if we were absolutely convinced that he was a can't miss great tackling physical version of Deion Sanders. Other than that, our DL os in such sad ass shape that im not sure that it matters what CBs we put behind them... especially considering the safeties we currently have to play over the top.

BPA, is typically the montra in all rounds. However, trading up for a BPA that also fits a need is commonplace.  So, in effect, need is a consideration as much as BPA when seen in practice. In the first, at least, we have to consider if a glaring need outweighs some measure of talent in player comparison.

That is, Greedy could be a great addition to our team. However, our holes on both sides of the line and Cams health could make BPA (in a vacuum) not the selection.

How many Deion Sanders have come since Deion Sander????? Smh

Im tired of hearing about not taking a corner due to our terrible DL. We arent winning the SB next year. This team is getting a slight rebuild like it or not. If Greedy is the BPA, you take him. And then when the time is right, you take the DL. You dont pass up Greedy in the top10 for a DL (Zach Allen, Sweat, Lawrence, etc.) just bc you need one. Howd you think we ended up with Luke and Cam.

Trying to take the "BPA" is how we ended up with guys like Shaq and Butler and what contributed to entire units virtually depleted of talent.

And reaching for "Need" is how we ended up with Everrett Brown and Pickles.

You go BPA to a extent.

If you have a DL who is #12 on the overall big board and a DB who is #9. You could easily choose that DL.

But your Not turning down a guy who is a Top 5 guy on the overal big board, and plays a position that was far from a strong point for him.  Your taking him over a DL that #10 on the big board.

Your not taking a Charles Harris over a Marshon Lattimore

Or

Deforest Buckner over a Jalen Ramsey, Just because DE is your biggest weakness on the roster.

Especially knowing on top how deep this draft is at DL, and you can get a guy who'd be a top 20 in most drafts but falls to the 2nd this year

Hindsight is always 20/20 and media "big boards" don't matter. Wasn't Pickles top 10 on vietually ever pundit's "big board"?

Pickles and Brown were prototype Hurney 2nd round picks. Guy hyped by the media but not guys who were actually coveted by NFL scouts and GMs.

I wouldn't be opposed to taking Greedy, but every year it seems like everyone gets caught in the trap of talking abput prospects as if they are these can't miss sure things. Just like every year, there will be some 1st round busts and some mid-late round gems.

*** off. Don’t insult me because you think you know your poo, you don’t punk ass

Well, I do. Do you know how often we're in nickel personnel? Last year we were in it 50% of the time. So that means if we drafted a linebacker--assuming he would be behind the depth chart of Kuechly, Thompson, and potentially Davis--he would be on the field for less than half the defensive snaps. Don't forget that the kid is 5'11" and isn't even the top ranked inside linebacker by any draft coverage analyst or website.

That's not true at all.

In 2015 Malcolm Brown, Landon Collins, and Demarious Randall were considered to be the best players available and we took Thompson.

In 2016 everyone thought Ogbah was going to be the pick and we ended up with Butler.

While only Collins is head and shoulders better than what we got DG was known to reach.

DG used the term "BPA" so that fans didn't get pissed when he reached for a player but it wasn't a true "BPA" philosophy.
