So...this 2019 DL class is scary good

Quinnen Williams (DT, Bama) is an absolutely nightmare for Oklahoma today.  I mean, good lord he's a wrecking ball tonight, just handling these linemen like rag dolls.  

This guy is part of the top tier 1A with Bosa (DE), Oliver (DT), & Gary (DE).  

That's not even mentioning Ferrell (Clemson DE), Josh Allen (Kentucky 3-4 LB/EDGE), Raekwan Davis (Bama DT/NT), Montez Sweat (Miss State DE), Derrick Brown (Auburn DT)

Those are 9 defensive linemen that would be considered top tier talent any other year (Sure, there are some others but I think this is a clear top tier 1A, 1B)

Allen may not be a pure fit but I think any of the others could slide into a role here one way or another.  Comparing these guys to the top talent at other positions and it's not even close.  Furthermore, there's a clear drop in talent once they are gone.  You know there will be other guys snagged in the top-10 or so and it has me thinking we got one of these guys on lock if we end up with a top-11ish pick.

Tomorrow's result could be a difference between a major tier drop in draft talent IMO.  Not rooting for a loss, but let's just say I'll be watching merely for the pure enjoyment of football.

Great FA class there though. The Panthers have the ability to rebuild the defense this offseason

Josh Allen has never even played with his hands in the dirt.

 

Came to Kentucky as a WR then moved to standup OLB.

Maaaaaaybe in pass rush packages. But dont think the dude would know how to handle the run.  Would be a 1 dimensional DE to start if that.

This draft is solid at 3-4 OLB prospects where you wont see guys like the 3 listed drafted as plug in play.

Like a 3-4 team is going to grab a Allen or Polite and a 4-3 will grab Ferrell or Gart

You also have guys from mid majors who had crazy good seasons as well in Oshane Ximines and Jaylon “Sack Did addy” Ferguson.

Not often would the NCCA’s all time sack leader (Ferguson) be projected as a second or third round pick but this year the DL talent is special.

The panthers are looking at a top 10 pick, they shouldn't be considering project guys who are undersized or have like 7 career sacks

I wouldn't say Pewter off

Because most of them are freaks to who will light up combines.

I saw ESPN and SI articles on both Brown and Jones how big a freaks they were this past summer.  And both projected them to shoot to the top 10 in the draft post combine.

This is before Williams or Simmons even blew up.

A few articles said the same about Tillery etc.

1. Ferrell doesnt fit either

2. Gary is a freak thats been plugged in at 3-4 DE and still taking on Double and TRIPLE teams.  And was a 4-3 DE in high school.

3. Sweat played at around 245 and expected to be up around 250 come combine time (just 5-6 pounds lighter than Barrnett the other year)

 

They should be taking a bpa of needed positions where we will be drafting

It amazes me how low the huddle is on Gary. Gary after bosa is the best player at the position. I keep seeing Oliver who i love but don't we need an end? and if the freak show is just sitting there and hes rated higher than oliver i dont know why we would say...hey let get a defensive tackle. And yes Gary is better than Ferrell.

Im not putting him above Ferrell

Ferrell woupd be the top DE in most any draft that a Bosa isnt in.

Dude is a athlete too and a dam good player

5. Rashan Gary, DE, Michigan*

Grade: 94 | Height: 6-5 | Weight: 283 | Previous: 4

Three years after he arrived in Ann Arbor as the most celebrated recruit in the country, Gary somehow matched the hype. A powerful run defender and edge-setter, he has an outstanding combination of size and athleticism and will fit any scheme: explosive, sudden and a nightmare to block. His closing burst, high motor and natural instincts helped him to 3.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss in nine games. He missed three consecutive games earlier this season with a shoulder injury, but he was productive in his return.

 

7. Ed Oliver, DT, Houston*

Grade: 93 | Height: 6-3 | Weight: 292 | Previous: 5

Oliver missed four consecutive Cougars games with a knee injury and had an explosive exchange with coach Major Applewhite on the sideline in mid-November before returning at the end of the regular season. But on the field, you don't want to have to block this dude. He explodes out of his stance, has elite initial quickness and is totally disruptive and usually unblockable one-on-one. Oliver has great range and always plays hard. He had 58 tackles, including 14.5 for a loss and three sacks, in eight games.

 

9. Clelin Ferrell, DE, Clemson*

Grade: 92 | Height: 6-5 | Weight: 265 | Previous: 11

Ferrell has very good, if not elite, physical tools. He grades out as an every-down NFL starter, though he could be used as a 3-4 outside linebacker or a 4-3 defensive end. His hands aren't overly violent at the line, but they are quick and active. Through 13 games, his quick first step helped him to 17.5 TFL and 10.5 sacks (eighth in the nation).

Everyone else in the recruiting world is putting Gary ahead of Ferrell. Gary was the best player in his draft class coming out of highschool and remains near the top. What that tells me is he is as advertised...people have been saying it since high school dude is legit and at this point scouts are coming to the same conclusion..why try to deny it and say so and so is better?
