One, did we release Smith in week 10 with a 6-3 record? No. This is not close to the same thing.

And what does Steve Smith, or any other move ever made, have to do with THIS mistake by the current GM/HC?

Because you didn't complain when Smith was released, even though we went from 12 wins to 7.

You're throwing a tantrum over the release of a far inferior player.

Why is this such a big topic? Running Back was the least of our worries (even after releasing Anderson).

Looks like you and a few just want a reason to complain.

Well, I'd say watching a guy that we let go help his new team get to the Super Bowl is kind of... upsetting for some folks.

But you asking why something is a big deal is pretty funny.

See, Toomers and I (and others) spend our time on this board discussing a variety of topics.

You come on here to do one thing and one thing only: Try to elevate Marty Hurney over Dave Gettleman.

It's the only thing you ever talk about, practically an obsession. You don't even talk about Cam Newton anymore. Heck, you've even stated that you have a purpose to take down people who believe differently than you about it.

Frankly, it's unhealthy...maybe even a tad unstable.

So we'll ask you the question: Why is it such a big deal?

Well, since I was nowhere near knowing this board existed, maybe you can tell me that I didn’t complain when Smith was cut. Remember, only one of us decides everything by what GM made the move. So show me where I didn’t complain in 2014. Good Luck.

We don’t want to discuss the troll you are again do we? You have no room to accuse any poster on this board of being biased towards anything. You got the top spot there.

Was replacing Smith for Benjamin a bad move?

I could have sworn we were in the Super Bowl a year after cutting Steve Smith. Whereas the team that picked up Steve Smith never even sniffed the Super Bowl while he was with them.

Funny, huh?

With that logic, you should shut up about Anderson until our 2020 season. We may make the super bowl then.

Maybe, but I wouldn't bet on it. Especially not if our quarterback doesn't get his shoulder right.

Here's a dose of reality, kid...

Dave Gettleman was a more successful Panthers GM than Marty Hurney, and therefore better, and it's not even close.

Nobody other than acknowledged dumbass Jerry Richardson was even willing to hire Marty Hurney as a scout, much less a GM, after he was fired. Thankfully, Richardson is gone.

After the Steve Smith release, the Panthers were more successful without Smith than Smith was without the Panthers. Since Smith is now done playing, that argument is finished.

On the flipside, after the CJ Anderson release, Anderson has so far been more successful without the Panthers than the Panthers have without him. maybe that'll change, but looking at the respective trajectories of the two teams, it's questionable.

Now you can try and spin these things a thousand different ways (in fact you already have) and you can rant and cry and spit and whine as much as you want, but nothing's going to change.

It's your time to waste, and your choice if you want to look foolish. I wouldn't, but hey...

So no one can EVER complain about anything this team does until two years have passed? Yes. Much more logical. Even poor moves such as his. You even flat out said you weren’t defending the move. So why can’t we discuss it? You even agreed!

It’s 5 years later on Smitty, but we shouldn’t discuss the fact that our GM/HC made poor moves that were on full display yesterday?

People blaming Hurney for cutting Anderson and Butker are reaching hard to criticize him. It's funny reading posts by the same guys that posted relentlessly about Hurney keeping two kickers. Hurney acquired Anderson, smart, he tried keeping Butker, smart, but Rivera floundered as always and went with his veterans.

Also, I think Gano's dead money might have been a small reason they kept him. But I can't remember the contract details.

Probably not as much of a reach as championing a GM with an overall record below 500, but hey...
