Which non-QB position has the hardest job in the NFL?

MLB

Pretty much the QB of the D.

If you've never seen the clips of Luke getting the D aligned.

As the Saints player said, its like a chess match watching Bree's and Luke.

They have to play up and read the run yet also be able to drop back and defend the pass

I think cornerback.  He's one on one with the WR a lot of the time. The QB and WR already know what's coming. They know the play.  The CB just has to try to read and react and stop him from catching the pass. That's hard. Especially when it's an NFL QB throwing to and NFL WR and if you put a hand on him it's a penalty.

It has to be MLB on a 4-3 defense.

The good ones are the QB of the defense and are responsible for lining up the team and calling adjustments during the snap count. But that's not the half of it.

The MLB is also responsible for run pursuit, line penetration and coverage of a TE or RB in passing situations and even WRs coming across the middle. Add all of that into the massive pounding they take each play when either making tackles or being slammed by a FB or lineman. Many also play, to a limited degree, on special teams and almost always on the field goal blocking.

Generally they are also expected to be in a team leadership role which can mean handling a host of other things not just on the field, but off as well.

Luke's got a tough gig and he's one of the best to ever play the game.
