I found this tidpit interesting in the same article:

Mayock had a chance to go to 16, Carolina’s slot, and ensure getting Jacobs. Nope. He thought Jacobs would last, and he didn’t want to sacrifice a good pick.  https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/04/29/nfl-draft-fmia-peter-king/

This says to me that Mayock had a deal in place with Hurney but chose not to execute it. I wonder if the plan would have been to move back and take Little.

Honestly believe it was the other way. Panther truly did value Burns as a blue-chipper, they refused the trade.

would not have been suprised at all if Burns was gone we had done just that and hoped that Dillard would be there and if not we take Little

Obviously I'd much rather have done what occured

this also tells me something very important regarding Little. Hurney really fuging wanted this dude. Like was about to trade down to 24 to get him and wanted to trade back into the first round to get him. If hurney likes him that much as a first round pick Little might end up being a steal in this draft. We got two bonafide first round talents with our top two picks.

Hurney is a lot of things, but he one thing for sure is he is an elite talent evaluator of top tier talent.

It wouldn't surprise me if Little was the #1 OT on herniays board either.

Too many odd things about this trade with raiders. It was for #24, after a few teams that desperately wanted OT, mainly LT.  Its tooo far of a drop, cause many teams had only 16 real 1st rounders. I believe this was a doomsday deal with the Raiders. Lucky for the Panthers LB, TE, and QBs were picked ahead allowing Burns to fall.

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
