I live in Raleigh and right up until last week or so, I saw more Hornets than Canes gear around... the Hornets have a bigger brand where i frequent anyway...

Not like it matters... great for the Canes right now.

Well I'm a Canes fan that drove here from Charleston to catch the game tonight...and got a hotel. I love the Hornets but Ive never done that for them. By the way that arena was hyped up. I reached out to a FB group and hit up the tailgate. Had fun. Great fans.  I've never seen Hornets fans engaged in that level. People are pumped up here just like the NFL playoffs.

This is the first time I've been to Raleigh and I like it. It's way less busy...I like it. People are friendly. Had great tacos and craft beer. Canes win. Ron Rivera rang the siren. Nice hotel.  Good time.

BTW everyone I met here had either been to a game this year...or they remarked on my Canes hat...and I'm talking prior to the game and being at the arena.

Raleigh is more of a hockey city than people realize. Even in the down years, you could spot Canes gear in the RDU area.

I'm just pumped that this team pulled it off.

Did they give out those "Bunch of Jerks" towels tonight? Saw a bunch of them on the post-game.

Na, we had the momentum I think a week off with this team will hurt.

I do think it will ding their momentum, but, given the injuries, probably a good thing overall to get a break. If CBJ can close out BOS we could start out at home, which would be weird.

The upside is we get healthy.

CBJ - BOS game 7 would be Wed May 8. Round 3 would probably start Friday or Saturday night so 7-8 day break. Islanders were off 9-10 days before this series. I don't know that it even mattered, the Canes may just have better conditioning overall. I'm sure the Caps would agree.

    • Got to give some credit to the coaching staff on these. You can grab top talents but without good coaching, they just fizzle out. We've seen that a lot around here.
    • Oh, no TV for tonight's game unless you have the NHL Network, I believe. I could be wrong, hopefully?
    • Early returns are great and exciting but also worth noting that Gettleman had a few drafts that looked incredible early on and wound up mostly sucking (2014 mainly). Also PFF; grain of salt, etc.    I'm completely sold on Tet being a stud, knocked a high pick out of the park like we needed to and always should. Nearly sold on Scourton. Not sold on Princely but he had flashes. Not sold on Etienne as more than a 3rd stringer and special teamer, but that's not terrible for his draft position. Big fan of Ransom and think he'll be a starter.  Cam Jackson : IDK, I see limited upside but we didn't see much of him Evans was a nice find for draft position and he had a great rookie year for a late round rookie TE with plenty of veteran competition. Not sure about his upside though, seems like best case is a long term #2/3 TE, which isn't bad. Jimmy Horn, personally I didn't see a damn thing from him that impressed me all year. And he got a lot of opportunities. Pulling for the kid, but not convinced he's an NFLer.   UDFA: Fitzgerald was an amazing find
