Twice this season we have been in position to let our "playmaker" return a punt, late in the 4th qtr. I always hear about getting him the ball in space, well you let two chances slip away. Once was against the Falcons and again last week against the Bills. The guy is electrifiying in the open field and could have changed the outcome of those games. I know some are saying, he might get injured. If Jake continues to throw it high and behind him, he might end up dead. One way to fix ST is to use your starters, if they were team players, they would be volunteering to help.

well, you knew watching last week it was only a matter of time in that game before one of those returners made a mistake. There youth is showing....they aren't fair catching when they should and just don't look comfortable. I am a big believer that guys don't grow into that roll...you either got it or you don't. I'd put Smitty back on punts at certain moments....a lot fo top tier guys still do it on occassion

I hope they don't do it. If he was to get hurt doing it, there goes our double covered receiver, which helps us in so many ways. It helps the run game more than you believe, as well as the tide ends getting open. If he was to go down, the other teams could man to man our receivers and stack the box for the run.

It helps the run game more than you believe, as well as the tide ends getting open. If he was to go down, the other teams could man to man our receivers and stack the box for the run.

Smith could tear his ACL playing soccer w/ his kid. He is a football player and he is at no more risk returning punts than he is playing other snaps as WR.

So you feel it is same being a wide out on a offense than having 20 players running at you wide open down the field? Ok, makes sense to me.

...OR open up the field a tad so that our shitty QB does not feel like he has to make impossible throws into traffic...instead he can make just plain shitty throws(lobs) to medicore recievers with just typical/minor coverage.

open tight ends?...whaaaa?...do we have tight ends who catch balls?...i thought they were blockers?

I am not saying have him be the full time return man. But w/ the young bunch they have now they should use him some....Santana Moss to Ed Reed, teams use talent when they feel they need to in the return game.

You can get hurt getting out of the bed, but it is funny you think that being a punt returner has the same amount of risk as being a wide out.

Football is generally is risky....there are plenty of examples of key offensive and defensive players getting involved in the return games....so other coaches must believe it is worth it.

When they are one of your best offensive weapons, highest paid at that position, they don't tend to put them at risk.

      I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.

      I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
