you can STFU, Pepe

If this forum is dying, it is because of dumbasses with agendas that post illogical threads hating on our generational players and compare them to unrelated situations on other teams in the past.

Since you enjoyed the the first bag of dicks so much, have another AND ANOTHER FRESH BAG OF DICKS!!

Not saying that Kyle Allen will be Tom Brady, but...remember that?  The Patriots were done without Bledose.  Brady was a 6th round pick out of Michigan.  NOBDODY predicted his success.  He's pretty much the GOAT now.  Hell, I remember myself talking to other people saying the Pats were dead. And btw, at that time the Pats weren't poo, kind of like we are now.

Kyle Allen has had a couple of pretty damn good games. And I'll be the first to admit that the Saints game last year was bullshit in my mind.  But if he can keep this up, then count me in.

I brought up this exact same scenario in the preseason --- but with Will Grier.

The parallels are pretty incredible.  Bledsoe was the #1 pick, had taken his team to a Super Bowl, Pro Bowl starter, and had just signed the largest contract in NFL history....and he got replaced by a 6th rounder.

Cam's resume is very similar, and Grier is a 3rd rounder.

In that scenario, while HIGHLY IMPROBABLE, history would show you that it certainly is possible.

There is NFW Kyle Allen has a career like Tom Brady but if as an undrafted QB he does end up permanently supplanting Cam it will be similarly astounding to the Bledsoe-Brady situation.

Who knows what will happen but it's gonna be pretty darn interesting to watch and Allen's performance this week will be very telling.

What accomplishments did Drew Bledsoe have?

#1 pick in 1993 NFL draft.

Youngest QB to pass for 10,000 yds.

Youngest QB to pass for 20,000 yds.

3 Pro Bowls in 1st 5 yrs.

2X Super Bowl participant as starter & backup.

Highest paid player in the NFL at one time.

New England Patriots Hall of Fame.

Couple of interesting notes, when his career was winding down he had some bad games and was replaced by another undrafted QB --- one Tony Romo!

Bledsoe handled his departure with such aplomb that he is beloved there.  Each time (3) he returned as a player he was cheered.  Patriots elected him to their Hall of Fame.  Patriots made him an honorary captain at the 2018 AFC Championship game.  The Patriots won that game and Bledsoe presented the Lamar Hunt Trophy to Patriots owner Robert Kraft after the game.

You probably aren't old enough to have seen Drew Bledsoe play but he was a QB's QB and one helluva player.

Yeah I remember Bledsoe and he definitely conducted himself with class and professionalism.

Most of us on here are Panthers fans first and foremost. I could give a damn whether it's Cam Newton or Kyle Allen leading this team. Whoever gives us the best chance to win is who I want to see out there. I have no ill will towards Cam whatsoever. But the Cam that played against Tampa isn't taking us anywhere. I really hope Cam can regain his mvp form because then we'd be super bowl contenders. But until he shows anything close to that, we seem to be better off rolling with Kyle Allen and seeing where he can take us.

    • The OL has certainly been better than the trainwreck it was three or four years ago. As far as competitiveness let's apply some realism and clarity here. Quite a bit of the competitiveness in 2025 came from the defensive side of the ball which gave up the most points in league history the year before and was one of the bottom 5 units in terms of salary cap allocation for 2025 while the OL was top 3. We had the 26th passing offense last year. And if not for a herculean couple of games from Rico Dowdle we don't back our way into the division title or make the playoffs because we went 4-6 in our final ten games including being swept by the Saints who were starting a rookie 2nd round pick most of us mercilessly mocked when they selected him. In conclusion yes we've seen a difference. The question now is will the investment pay off the way we want. But the only way that happens is if we field a top 15 offense. If we can't even crack the top 20 then there need to be some very warm seats across the board. And I would hope just about anyone here should agree with that.
    • These Spurs are lowkey loaded.  If healthy, they could win it all this year (#2 in the West right now). I still think we’ve gotta keep Kalk on Wemby; he’s not getting completely dominated like every other NBA center.
    • Am I the only one who doesn't understand this fan bases infatuation with adding a high end TE? Especially when we have some bigger bodies in T-Mac and Coker who can slide into the slot at times and provide the big dependable target over the middle that most teams use their TE for. I mean, sure, it would be nice to have one of those elite TE's, but I feel like that's a position your better off going cheap with a committee who each bring something different to the table while spending our cap room on the more important positions. I like the potential we saw from Evans this year, Sanders could be a best if he can stay healthy, and Tremble has improved as well.  Just feels like spending high draft picks or cap space on other needs and more important positions is a better use of our resources than splashing on a TE in the draft or FA. Are those guys on the level of the Bowers or McBride's of the world?  Of course not, but we also are paying a fraction of the cost on our TE room than they are, and we're able to use that money for other needs.
