Really ??? Betting on what?  Only a fool bets on those kind of things especially when you play a tougher schedule down the road. It might not be sustainable but it won't have anything to do with luck or averages.

So what exactly will be the cause of it? Like it or not, luck plays a HUGE role in turnovers.

Regarding turnovers specifically which is what we're talking about, we absolutely have.

In 6 games we are a plus 6 which is not that lopsided given many of those were in the last game against Tampa. Then look at how many picks we dropped or were negated by ref calls and penalties like against Jacksonville. We haven't been lucky to the point it isn't sustainable.

Turnover margin leaders 2019:
1. NE Patriots +9
2. Pittsburgh +7
3. Carolina Panthers +6
3. Chicago Bears +6
3. Seattle Seahawks +6

Turnover margin leaders 2018:
1. Seattle Seahawks +15
2. Houston Texans +13
3. Chicago Bears +12
4. Los Angeles +11
5. NE Patriots +10

What's so unsustainable about what the Panthers are doing with creating turnovers. History shows teams that can get pressure on the quarterback can force turnovers. All of the 2018 leaders were teams that could rush the passer ala the 2019 Panthers.

For one, the fact that we've only thrown one INT all season. That's not going to last. For two, the Jameis effect. He really gave us a huge boost.

I think we're going to do well in the turnover margin, but I doubt we'll be +16 and I guarantee we won't force 40 like we're on pace to do.

Its why I'm a little bit leery of our success. We're doing a lot of things that probably aren't sustainable. Our sack rate. Our rate of forcing turnovers. No INTs over the last 4 games. CMC leading the league by a wide margin in yards from scrimmage. 6th round rookies stepping in and playing like All-Pro LT.

Don't get me wrong, I love being 4-2 especially after an 0-2 start, but I hope we can maintain our success when the law of averages kicks in and some of these breaks start hedging the other direction.

That was said in the 2013 and 2015 seasons too.

Well I doubt we'll see Allen lose 3 fumbles in a single game as well. (don't quote me).

Also if we don't lose the turnover battle against the Rams we win that game. Looking at the way this team has performed over 6 weeks I would say we're more unlucky to be 4-2 than lucky.

This defense is not an mirage, Jameis had only thrown 2 picks leading up to our game and had the number passer rating in the NFL against the blitz. Deshawn Watson whose probably the 2nd hottest qb in league right now behind Russell Wilson was made to look pedestrian.

I think we have a very opportunistic D and I think we'll still continue to do well in the turnover battle, I just don't think we will continue to do as well as we have. Part of that is because we play better QBs (and teams) in the second half of our schedule

On paper Garapallo doesn't look like he will be as tough an opponent for the Panthers D as was Watson or Winston.

Multiple sacks should be on the menu.

The Panthers run defense remains an area of concern, but if Allen has a decent game, I like Carolina's chances in this one.

We're 24th in the NFL in defensive yards per carry. Meanwhile, SF leads the NFL with 39 attempts per game. Our run D is going to get a big test.

Do the Panthers stack the line and force Garapallo to beat them with his arm?

I think so. Their TE has twice as many receiving yards as any WR on the roster. Marquise Goodwin can fly though. I'd have Dante shadow him.

You can't just let them pound it down your throat and wear your D out.
