Tepper is not going to let Cam leave Charlotte before seeing him play again.  (unless that is Cam is deemed to be off the reservation and not returning from a mental perspective, all bets are off if that's the case)

Tepper made his fortune by holding onto valuable assets through the toughest of times when everyone else was scared sh*tless and selling....he ain't cutting Cam loose for a #1 pick, or two #2's, or anything short of an insanely large monster offer (which will not be forthcoming)....

What kind of contract do you believe he is in position to demand?

EDIT:  Put another way, if you were in charge what kind of contract would you be willing to offer him?

I think Tepper seen enough from Cam since owning the team whether that’s on game day or in practice.

I mean, at the end of the day, it is still a business (on both sides).

The nature of it is that employees have a relatively short time to make as much money as they can, and someone who plays as physically as Newton does might have an even shorter one.

Can't really blame him or any other player for trying to get the best situation possible for themselves.

It's a fair point you make.

I believe there are three key health related components in play here...the foot, the shoulder, and the noggin.

If Tepper has seen enough to where he believes the noggin will never be screwed on straight again then all bets are off.  (as I believe that is the only factor which will lead Tepp to allow Cam to exit the CLT prior to next season)

Yet you do believed he is entitled to a new contract prior to suiting up next year, right?

I'm highly uncertain about his ability to stay healthy.

Getting healthy is one thing. He'll have time to do that. But after a couple of years now of shoulder problems, foot problems and other problems, it's pretty tough not to characterize throwing significant money his way as a gamble.

I do not think his attitude/head is or has been the problem at all.  No evidence for that, no reports of it, and he is clearly working with the QBs and supporting them in a way that doesn't suggest he is mentally checked out.

Oh there's plenty of evidence....like many, you might not be willing to acknowledge it, but it's there.  Whether it's gotten bad enough to for Tepper to pull the ripcord is the question...

To reiterate, Tepper will not allow Cam to leave due to the foot and/or shoulder...

...let's see what happens.

PS...I'm hoping Cam stays and balls out and earns himself a monster 5-year deal starting in 2021.
