He did not fail by a long stretch.  I also don’t buy that he’s gone at years end like so many believe.

What makes you think that he won’t be gone? He went 1-7 to close last season. Then started this season 0-2. Now has lost two games vs two nfc contenders. 11-5 is the only way Rivera will save his job.

A 9-7 record. That is me being extremely nice having the Panthers sweep Atlanta which I don’t believe we will do that. More 8-8 or 7-9 losing to Atlanta once and Indy.

Went 1-7 with a qb who couldn’t throw 10 yards. Cam injured again to start 2019, has to play UDFA Kyle Allen. Expectations can no way be the same without your #1 playing.

Not trying to make excuses for Ron but he could make a case that he’s doing the best he can with what he has. If we beat who we should beat and play well against the rest but lose I can see Tepper keeping him around.

So you’re telling me we have a stupid HC who wasn’t smart enough to to start Allen over Cam last year. That’s just making my case stronger that Ron will get himself fired

Did you know last year Allen was this good? And Heinicke was the back up. Get off your high horse to fire the guy and see the bigger picture. Who is better out there available? Who is that proven to come in and bring us the SB? Even the darling of the NFL McVay is struggling. And RR went through an owners scandal, fire GM before a season and lots of injuries the last couple of years including his franchise QB. I hope you boss doesn't critique you that hard, you would have a freaking job if you called in sick 2 days. He won the coach of the year 2x. Except Belichick in NE, who has won 2?

No I didn’t know because I got a 40 hr job outside of keeping up with Kyle Allen. But do you know who should of known Allen was this good? Ron Rivera.

Outside of last year

Rivera has been among the best of the best in November and December.  I think only the Patriots and Seattle were better.

1. Its frustrating seeing Rivera.  But same time, he is still a dam good coach that most of the league would love to have.

2. Tepper has that Steelers mantra.  The Steelers like stability.  Look at theyre history with coaches.  Heck there has been runs where Mike Tomlin's seat was hotter than Rivera's this year, but they held on.

3. It sucks to see us lose.  And you always hate to see excuses.  But how many teams win and make the playoffs with a injured or out QB?  Ill wait.

You dont.  He is in the playoff hunt right now with a backup undrafted QB behind a patchwork OL with either their #1 or #2 CB being out all but 3 games this year?  With everyone else having a 2 game head start.  Cam admitted he lied to the staff to tell them he was good to play, which he wasnt, and hurt the team.  Sucks but these are facts, and while we always say play with what your dealt.  I dont know too many Coaches that would have a better record than Ron with what he's dealt with.

Im not a Ron homer nor am I one with a pitch fork ready to run him out of town.

I have the Panthers finishing 10-6 and the last team out of the playoff picture.  If Rivera just barely misses the playoffs, has 10 wins with Allen.  Id say there would be about a 70% chance he would be back next year

The staff also thought Taylor Heinicke was better than Kyle based upon the depth chart last season.

Tepper was one of the guys that wanted Tomlin out. Everyone knows that

He's also on record of saying he likes coaches being around and not so quick to fire.  And wants guys around a long time.  Notably pointing out the steelers and their slim to few HC changes.

    • They use stats to create the basis of their grading system but the stats based on the outcome of the plays (that aggregate into what we football fans call "stats") are not incorporated into the grade. That's the best I can do in terms of explaining this to you. I've tried, every link from PFF has tried, yet you just keep on keeping on. LOL
    • PFF uses the term "context normalized-scoring," which is based upon statistics. Hell, any serious metric or analytic systems are based upon stats and expectations, and looks at what players do against those expectations, but If you don't think that stats play any part in a players grades, be wrong. At the end of the day, it's heady anyway, so everyone is not going to understand everything. I'm done with this conversation for now. But just know, it's OK to be wrong.
    • It's hilarious watching you crash out while being completely wrong. Every link you posted regarding player grades specifically told you that they aren't incorporating stats into these grades, that it's based on their evaluation individual plays. That sent you scouring the internet where you came back with soccer grades as some type of gotcha before you shifted to pass protection grades where you misunderstood that they were using stats to create the basis of their grading system but not in the actual actual creation of the player grades. Pointing that out sent you back to the internet to dig some more where you came back with their "Advanced Coverage Grade" metric which is separate from their player grade.
