If we win out, we may get the 6th seed

you all forget that the vikings are good?

Not most of us.

Putting it in the plainest terms, for us to get into the playoffs requires that we beat the Seahawks, the Saints, the Colts and the same Falcons team that destroyed us a few weeks ago in their home stadium.

It additionally requires that the Vikings lose to the Lions, the Chargers and the Bears. If they win even one of those games, it eliminates us.

So yeah, we're screwed.

And let's be real. Do you really want to see what happens when the team that got run over by the Redskins goes up against a playoff team?

Most of the threads on the huddle are depressing these days, but I gotta admit, "3 or 4 plane crashes from a playoff spot" really made my day. Thanks Mr. Scot.

Don't thank me. That was John McKay.

You can probably find a good number of McKay's old quotes with a quick online search.

I have a McDonald's poster they gave out after their first win.  It is orange with black and white pictures in the four corners.  Might be worth something to Leroy Selmon or the like.  I think they beat the Cardinals.  The Rowdies were more popular than the Bucs back then.

I was living in St. Louis and thus a Cardinals fans at the time.  Trust me, the Bucs initial win was against the Saints in week 13 (of 14 back in those days) of the 77 season.  We were second up, in week 14.  At that point, most Cardinal fans were disappointed we were not the first.....since it would have been a fitting distinction for that season.  They started out 7-3, and then lost their last 4 to end things.  Sounds all too familiar.

As far as this thread, my advice is to just give up all hope.....it will make us much happier.  The problem isn't "all we have to do is pass the Vikings," the problem is we are #11 going after 6 playoff spots.  The Rams, Bears, Eagles, and Bucs are all ahead of us right now, too.

The big issue is never how far behind a team is, it is how many teams they have to pass to get there.  We are looking at a patient that has flat-lined, but holding hope because the body moves when we hit it with the paddles.

Right now, Tepper is probably thinking of the wisdom of McKay's response when he was asked what he thought about the team's execution.
