That said, you're right about the improvement that Newton made last season. One offseason under Norv Turner was enough to show what we could have had if Rivera hadn't been so damn loyal to Mike Shula.

Cam was on pace to have an MVP season, or atleast be in discussion, last year if he stayed healthy. No reason to believe that a healthy Newton wouldn’t be in discussion again this year.

We'll have to disagree on that. If if we were a better team, that would have made a difference.

As to next year, I don't have a whole lot of optimism that you're going to see a healthy Newton again. Igo's theory about his shoulder being arthritic seems very plausible.

Of course. He’s a great player but he’s also just one player (and not at QB). His impact on the game alone is nowhere near the difference between 5 wins in 13 games and no wins in 13 games. Maybe we lose 1 or 2 more without him.

CMC is legit. But you still need a quarterback. This team doesn't know how to win without Cam bullying defenses. The man was a first down machine. Since he stopped running like he used to, things just don't look the same. There's a noticeable lack of intensity that I've only seen on a few occasions this season when CMC was running like a madman. But like the NY Giants are seeing, you can't substitute a top 10 pick running back for a franchise QB. In the end when the chips are down, your guy behind center has to get it done. Panthers need a QB, and they may have to part with some assets to get him, including other fan favorite players not named Newton.

Short answer...yes, ARI is that bad.

Aside from that no, I think we lose every other game without the player that CMC has become, also some kudos to DJ Moore, 1k receiving in this environment is impressive.
