@panthers55 you still believe in winning these late out-of-playoffs games?

Yeah  because I like watching winning football rather than losing football. And getting Burns last year just proved that losing a few draft slots really makes no difference in picking up a difference maker. So to me I would rather win the last 2 than purposefully tank for better draft position. That seems so counter to everything I learned as a player and coach growing up. I know people do it, I just don't think much of them.

I understand the player part, but Im a fan and once the playoff chances are done

FYI- Last season if the panthers would have lost that meaningless saints game, there was no need to trade up for Little. Thus saving a mid-3rd in the process.

And while I am at it, the whole idea that proclaiming that we need to lose  for better draft position makes you knowledgeable or savvy is ridiculous in my mind. GMs might care about draft position, I don't. As a fan I want to us to win every game. Of course.  I don't draft players or have a say so why would I worry about draft position? Let Hurney and Tepper worry about that. As long as we get an impactful player then who cares if it is at 9 or 12 or 15.   7-9 finishing up with 2 wins for Grier makes me infinitely happier that 5-11 and free falling 8 straight losses.

And I thought folks felt that Little was a reach and would have been there if we stayed pat.

Thats debate-able and we will never know if he would have lasted. Still that meaningless win cost the Panthers a late 2nd in value. That is a fact.

Was the Saints finale win last year a "moral" victory knowing that they sat their starters?

I thought a moral victory was when you lost but did better than expected. If I remember correctly, we spanked that ass in their house and we didn't have Cam or McCaffrey or Kueckly. Moral victory my ass.

No it didn't cost anything but a few draft positions in rounds where we had a pick.. What Hurney decided to do in moving up could have happened either way. The fact is we picked a few slots behind where we would if we had lost. That is the only fact. The rest is speculation that is almost a year old. Apparently you have a problem letting things go and moving on.

On average picking earlier yields better players, another fact. If a team wants to move up form the 30s, #9 will bring more value than #16 another fact. No problem here, you are free to think winning is correct. I thought with this team in the gutter, winning these last two games would help you to understand its faults.

As a coach, how do you fire your team up over spanking the ass of 2nd string players?  Are they that gullible?  And how did the ass spanking transfer into good this season?
