Imagine being so mentally deficient that you think Will Grier was SLOW in the pocket but Kyle Allen isn’t. Imagine having that low of an IQ.

Allen would’ve been sacked at least 10 times today. Grier escaped more sacks and extended more plays today than Allen has in his entire career.

Grier is sorry just based on the fact the he started his senior year at WVU as a heisman favorite and a shoe in for a top 10 pick but he played so bad against garbage Big 12 defenses that he dropped to the third round where some analyst thought he was still drafted too high. The pick was garbage then and it looks worse now that he couldn’t beat a UDFA for the back up spot.

Grier looked pretty good considering he had electricians and delivery boys to throw to. Brandon Zylstra and 8-year-old girl DeAndrew White aren’t exactly DJ Moore. Additionally, Grier’s pocket presence is nice. He avoided six sacks today and extended three of those plays for first downs. Allen would’ve fumbled and curled up into a sack on each play.

That said, Grier’s deep throws left a whole lot to be desired. But he wasn’t expected to come in and be the messiah on this shitstorm. And anyone still believing Allen can be anything better is as blind as Allen on third and 8 against a four-man rush.

Very good pocket awareness. Good mobility.  He needs some reps.  (a good o line would also be nice)

This^^!!

I saw better pocket awareness with a good confidence to go long with the ball and a way stronger arm then Allen.. He needs reps.. game experience and better WR's who actually go up and get the dam ball!!!

Overall, Kyle Allen is the better QB by quite a bit so.. hell of a nice 3rd round pick, Hurney.

For sure.  I did see some progress in his play.  He got the ball out quick.  He had a good arm.  Needs to read the defense better.  However, he just didn't have a line of protection.  Put him behind a good offensive line and he might look much better.

Completely agree.  Many on here seemed to think he would have been our savior QB.  He will grow and I'm glad he got a good taste of real action.  Hopefully he will see time next week.
