MFN: Packers vs. Vikings

2. New Orleans Saints (12-3) - y

The Saints temporarily took over the No. 2 spot after Sunday's victory over the Titans. They'll stay there if the Packers lose Monday night to the Vikings. If the Packers win, the Saints will be back down to No. 3. The Packers would hold the tiebreaker at the moment because of a better conference record. As part of any effort to ascend to the No. 1 seed, New Orleans will need to root for a Packers loss or a Seahawks win over the 49ers in Week 17. According to FPI, the Saints' likeliest landing spot is the No. 2 seed (42.5%).

If the Packers lose, the Packers and the Vikings are 11-4.  If the Saints lose to us and the Packers and Vikings win week 17, then there are three teams at 11-5.  How does that wrap up a first round bye for the Saints?

If Green Bay loses, the Saints get a first round bye. So get your damn cheesehats in place and fug the motherfuging Saints.

You are not saying the Saints can rest starters next week---you are saying, "if they beat Carolina, the Saints get a bye"---correct?

Not only that, Payton knows that we are a division rival.  If losing to us hurts us and impacts the Saints in no negative way, he would do it--he did it last year.

Ya'll overplay that card a bit much. All he has to do to hurt us is keep doing what he is doing. The Panthers haven't needed any help fuging themselves.

Here's the worst part for me about the end of this season.

Earlier in the year, we were talking about the Dolphins deliberately tanking.

We're set to finish just one game ahead of them, conceivably even if the Patriots were to rest their starters (which doesn't sound likely at the moment).

We were making fun of them, but now we'll finish in the same territory.

That... just... sucks.

Your opinion does not matter when you are looking at mathematical possibilities.  If I knew losing impacted the Panthers in no way but I could drop a division rival by resting starters and faking injuries (like they did last year) I would do it.  So what you think---OK, I will consider your opinion as well as other possibilities.  How can you say others are wrong?  You can't.

Yeah but they weren't deliberately tanking. It is legitimately difficult to convince 53 players and an entire coaching staff of ultra competitive people to lay down and die for 16 games. Tanking is a front office thing in the NFL, not an on the field thing.

They also looked like poo because Rosen was starting.
