Hindsight: We pay Star; let KK walk

Top 5 or top 10. Which one exactly is it? Top 10, sure you could make a case for him due to his name. And he may very well be the #10. Top 5? You must be insane. And there are a bunch of insane Panthers fans nowadays. Even Corn Elder is a top 5 back up corner.

Which is more insane? Saying Star is better than KK, or KK is a top 5 DT?

Are there really 2 threads about how we should have kept Star because of a single play where he helped make a 4th down stop? 5 years and $50 million? Remember when McCoy made the 4th down stop against New Orleans at the goal line towards the end of the first half? How many threads got started saying he was the signing of the year and we should extend him for 5 years? Star was a good piece but he's not worth 5 years, $50 million. And just about everyone outside of these boards will tell you that.

Watching this Bills game ...

Star's value is not quantifiable .. I think had we kept Star, it wouldn't of been hard to find a DT opposite that could do what Short was doing

Star doesn't get pushed backward and that obviously helps everybody else on the line

Lol...at the time it was right call

Saying KK is a top 5 bc it’s fact that Star is better than KK. You are definitely insane. Why am I even wasting my time

I ask myself the same about you.

Show me one reputable analytics site or analyst that ranks Star better than KK. Look all week look long. Save yourself the trouble, unless you really enjoy wasting your time as opposed to other Huddlers'.

Panthers fans do seem to have gotten progressively dumber over the years. These new crying, whiny types who say idiotic and nonsensical things and start the same emo threads every other week need to be quelled.

lol Forty-Eight is like the millionth alt account of one of the most prolific shitposters in the history of this site.  Some of them have been doing this for a long, long time.

Paying both would have been the way to go if he wanted to be here and wasn't offered a massive contract for a 0,1 tech. You dont just find guys like short either, hes alot better then most on here give credit for against the run.

I don't know.  To me it looked like our line play dropped significantly once KK got hurt.  So I'm not sure I'm all on the Short sucks bandwagon..but whatever....

Also in the same vain people are talking about how stats don't mean everything when comparing Start to KK but in the same breath are talking about how KK sucks because he isn't getting the stats..

This 100, short began doing more of the dirty work after star left, this is why him and McCoy looked so good it was like having star and short back. Unfortunately mccoy is only a 3 tech and Poe is a shell of what he was. Poe was still better at 1 tech then anything we had as we saw the play drop significantly again when he went on IR.w

KK has one good season and that was bc he lived off Star getting doubled. What the hell is he doing now? Fat lazy fugger

I think all your look at is stats, if KK had stayed healthy McCoy would have had a 10 sack season because KK where he doesn't do it quite as good does stars job pretty damn good. After Star left KK took on the dirty work there for the drop in stats. Even if not taking double teams his IQ of taking on run schemes is high, even hitting the right olineman and knocking him out of his blocking scheme can cause the HB to get tackled.

This is why HBs have been devalued because outside a select few like CMC it's all about the oline performance. See Leveon Bell to Conner...no drop off because the Steelers line did their job.

    • Hmmm... not a good start. Maybe I'm reading too much into this but after the guy who has been carrying your offense expresses frustration with his sudden lack of use and your HC just blows it off and confirms they haven't even talked, your PR team decides to use the guy who should be his backup as their poster boy hyping this week's game? Yikes. Hard not to interpret that as another slap in the face.
    • For some reason this is becoming a disturbing trend in the NFL. Teams are shutting down one part of their offense without causation from the opposition. Shane Steichen did it an overtime loss against Kansas City last week with the best back in the NFL. Pete Carroll allowed Chip Kelly to completely abandon the run game against Dallas the week before he was fired in Oakland as the OC. Matt Lafleur abandoned the pass instead choosing to rely on a bottled up run game when we clearly were having issues with the passing game. Big brain play callers some of them HCs are what the league wanted along with high powered offense and these dudes are making some of the dumbest situational calls I've ever seen. At least most of them are young and can learn, Canales included. I remember Norv Turner trying to throw the ball around the yard in a certain SuperBOWL, going in at halftime down 13-6. Emmitt Smith said get me the d*mn ball and took over in the 2nd half. Remember Kyle Shanahan in the 2nd half vs. the Patriots? This shite happens to the best and the brightest. We are just actively seeing it play out in real time just like Atlanta and Dallas fans before us.  Also, not saying Canales is going to become either of those, just begging/hoping for our sanity he gets his shite together if he's going to be our HC.
