I just hope this guy doesn't pull a Chip Kelly and start holding up big ass pizza and burger pictures on the sideline to signal calls.

He's more of a pro coach

Not the kelly college gimmicks

Correct. He was an assistant to the offensive line coach for one year. But this, again, doesn't really promote that he is some offensive genius or great offensive mind. I am not trying to dog the guy. He is going to be here for the next 6 years so I am going to support him and hope for the best. The analytics suggest other than this year he was a get the lead and run a billion times for 2.5-3.1 yards per carry type of coach.

No---and I do not think they were looking for a chess player as much as they were looking for a motivator.  Some know X's and O's, and others know people.  I think he builds players, not strategies as much.

Imagine doing that with a college football version of Taylor Heinicke at QB and Reggie Bonnafon.

Baylor doesn't have near the talent of other P5 schools.

2 years ago when he arrived.  No parent wanted their kid to go there coming off the Art Briles thing and under the NCAA investigation.

With only 1 commit.  He scrapped up some players and still produced with what he was handed

And THAT is phenomenal---2 years later, he is taken Jalen Hurts and Oklahoma to the woodshed early, building a 25 point lead---and some Huddle crackpipers want to trash him for losing the game.  He goes 8-1 in the Big 12 and they criticize the fact that he won 2 OT games and some wins were within 1 score.  Terrible coach!

I don't think anyone is trying to imply he is a terrible coach. At least, that isn't my intent. In looking at the details of the numbers at Baylor and Temple his teams defense and special teams were definitely upper tier.
