NCFan's mock offseason 2.0 (post Luke)

Retire

Olsen

Cut

Poe

Gano

Trade

Cam- to Raiders for one 1st

Jarius Wright- *See Draft

Cap Space= roughly 80 mil

FA

Bradberry- go ahead and give him his 14 mil a year.  Kid has what Rhule described what he likes to see in players.  After the moves above, we will have 65+ mil in space.

Tre Boston- Boston hasnt been the best.  But has been servicable.  And capable for the time being.

Jordan Phillips- another Big, Long, Athletic guy which Rhule likes.  After a disappointing few years in Miami, Phillips has blown up this year.  Phillips shouldn't command Too much as he's had just 1 big year.  Expect somewhere around the lines of what Poe's contract was if not a little less.   3 years 8 mil a year

Carl Nassib- ive had some draft crushes (Kittle, Chris Godwin)  and Nassib was one.  The big Penn State freak fell in the draft and underwhelmed in Cleveland (which many there do).  But finally stood out this year with 12.5 sacks for the Bucs.  This staff has Penn State ties with Rhule and Brady.   Nassib would fit right in.

Robby Anderson- Anderson is said to want to get paid and I expect Rhule to give him some.  Anderson Loves Rhule (who coached him at Temple)  and see opportunity with new OC who grew up in the same area in florida.   Look at 11.5 a year range

Teddy Bridgewater- at 22 mil a year.  His familiarity with Joe Brady helps here.

CMC- no not a FA, but will go ahead and get his extension.

Draft

1st: Andrew Thomas- shocking to many, he falls to us.   Most people now have Jedrick Wills ahead of Thomas.  Thomas comes in as a stud Day 1 LT.  Little moves over to RT and Moton in at LG. With Daley as depth.  Fixing the OL is a day 1 priority

1st: Panthers- Javon Kinlaw, Kinlaw the 2nd best DT in this class fills a Huge need.

2nd: Patrick Queen- the loss of Luke hits hard, so drafting LB is a no brainer.  Queen had a breakout year at LSU this season and declared early.

3rd: Denzel Mims- a Matt Rhule Kid!  Mims has put together one heckuva seniorbowl week.

4th: Lamar Jackson- not the Ravens QB but the CB from Nebraska.

On 1/17/2020 at 4:06 PM, ncfan said:2nd: TRADE- Panthers Trade back up into the 1st swapping with Greenbay.  Giving up their 2nd, a 2021 2nd, and Jarius Wright.

Jordan Love is the Pick- Panthers get their QB of the future to come in and develop.

No one is trading for Wright. He is too old for trade bait.

Also, when was the last time a team successfully developed a low pick QB into a franchise guy?

No, Wilson does not not count. He got the job his first year.

Hahaha omg if you think qb is such a problem please just mock one in the first round a second round qb does not solve anything. Imagine trading cam for love I would puke all over my fkin tv

So would you like Love at 7?

Bengals arent trading away Burrow

Miami is on a Mission for Tua and will take him at 5 or trade up if feel threatened.

Chargers just lost their QB and Loves Herbert.

So only scenario would be trading up to 3-4 with the Lions or Giants.  We wont be able to trade to 3 because Miami will pull the trigger and out bid us for that spot.  Then only option would be outbidding the Chargers to trade with the Giants for Herbert, and I think people around here would like Love in the 2nd than giving up a haul including a future 1st for Herbert

    • Yea when teams see a gun charge they rightly pause but this seems like a big misunderstanding.
    • Sorry man you lost me at "Teppers have evolved as owners". Limped into playoffs at 8-9 not even above .500 Tepper is trash as an owner bro and that's not even a discussion at this point. 37-83 w/l ratio. Nuff said.... Morgan tho, he's cooking and it ain't cuz of Teppers leadership
    • After listening to Morgan's presser twice, I came away with some key beliefs. First of all, I don't think he's a bullshitter. What you see is what you get. When he says something, he means it.  The Teppers really have evolved as owners. Morgan has mentioned how they're easy to work with--a pleasure to work with a few times now. There seems to be a good relationship between all of them (and include Dave Canales on that). We'll see if it lasts. Yes, no one wanted to come to Carolina with the previous management, but that seems to have changed. The team signed arguably the top Edge, LB and OT on the market, two of them on pretty good deals and one on what I'll say is "not a bad one." And, credit Sunshine Dave "Flowers and Cotton Candy" Canales for helping to change the culture. Morgan mentioned getting guys--and I'm paraphrasing--that are not only great football players but great people. Don't look for us to be acquiring any James Pearce types anytime soon, just saying. We'll see if that holds true in the future. Dan Morgan really has set up the Panthers to take the BPA/BAP. He mentioned it at least a couple of times, and he doesn't seem pressured to pinpoint a particular position. He just wants quality players that will help the team. This is how it's going to be (to your joy or dismay, probably for as long as he's here), and personally I love it. Many of us know how Morgan was when he played: aggressive! That's what he's going to be when making acquisitions. He explicitly said it, and emphasized it. All avenues are open (think FA, waivers...the draft)! Personally, as long as it's controlled aggression and not reckless aggression, I love it.  On KP: "Mobility is big in this league."  He basically says if another QB is the BPA while drafting--we're going by our board, people--we're going to add them.        ...
