NFL: The Imperial Quarterback...

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

We never really know what people are like behind closed doors or when the camera is off

growing up in the DC area, I saw enough of joe theiseman  at charity events and other things to know I never, ever wanted to be around him.  His vibe was awful. because my Father owned a business in Northern VA, I met a few others who were pretty nice but who knows

Cam Newton can be a man child and he can be cringeworthy because he is a man child, but he has grown up a lot and meeting him and spending time around him in Sept via Zacks cruise for Newton’s foundation on lake Norman totally changed my view of him.
We were by no means rich people, there were no rich or famous people on that boat, but he could not have been kinder to everyone or more respectful.   So much better than I ever expected.  He lights the room up when in it

as I stay uptown after the games, several times leaving a restaurant,  I would see him giving out pizzas or Jimmy Johns on the streets to homeless   No cameras, just him  sometimes one or two of his friends with him

I could never imagine a Rodgers or a Farve or a Brady doing such things

Cam was not perfect on or off the field but I will never forget him, always wish him well, and on Sundays, I’ll miss him

Yes... He's top ten of all. He may be an jerk. But he's really good.

I wanna see who you take Rodgers over in the top 10.

We all could find positive and negative things in every person. My sister and GF used to work in uptown CLT. So they had a studio on Graham St. I used to go to Target and Chipotle all the time. I met Drayton Florence and Fozzy Whittaker shopping together at Target. They were very kind. Both could tell that I knew who they were and how excited I was. Spoke to them for a short minute and even took a couple pictures with my GF and I. Later on, I met Luke Kuechly at Chipotle. I was right behind him in line. Asked to take a picture with him which I did get. But, Luke acted like he didn’t really want to talk and seemed annoyed. It kind of rub me the wrong way. Made me regret getting the picture because I’m such a huge Luke Kuechly fan.

I've seen Luke in person a good bit. One of the defensive linemen was my neighbor a few years back, and he'd be over there for dinner, video games, etc. Really low key guy. Very polite, but always seemed uncomfortable with the attention. I never asked him for a picture because it was his personal time, and I'm a grown man. What am I going to do with a picture of me and Luke Kuechly?! Just be glad you're in an area that allows you to bump into some of your sports heroes and leave it at that. They just want to eat their freaking Chipotle in peace. Besides, all the real stalkers know that Luke is more of a RoCo or Thai Taste kind of guy, lol.

bob mcginn is apparently a total shithead reporter according to green bay fans so this is probably total bs

I think McGinn is actually a pretty good reporter.

But regardless of what you think of him, he's far from the only one characterizing Aaron Rodgers as an a--hole.

I can say that perhaps the nicest Panther I ever encountered was Jake Delhomme.  I was walking my children to an OTA (under the bridge) and he saw us and waved like Forrest Gump from his shrimp boat.  Then, after practice, he came up to us and started talking to us.  Nice guy.  My kids had full sized autograph helmets and wanted to get everyone they could--but Jake just stood there and talked and talked.  He was great, but we wanted to get rid of him because a few players were approaching.  That did not stop him.  I finally gave up and just decided to enjoy whatever it was he was talking about. I kept thinking, "Does he know me?  Does he think I am someone else?"  But that is just the way he is--he did the same thing to another group.

He worked hard to get where he was in life--an NFL starting QB---and he loved and cherished every minute of it.  I wish they all had that kind of appreciation for their supporters.

Completely agree about Jake. I got to meet him and several other marquee players at a charity event right after the first Super Bowl. He talked to me like he'd known me all my life. Just a great guy.

Hey, does anyone else remember when Charlottenian shared a post about how he wrote Jake a personal letter, found his home address on the GIS lookup and mailed it to his house?

And, you sound like Luke or one of his teammates. I’m adding you right now. Should’ve never said anything. Blown your cover.

Everyone has a bad day and a lot of these guys are trying to be low key in public enjoying not getting mobbed by fans for a minute and taking pics with them is a 100% guaranteed way to blow their cover. Fozzy and Florence didn't have to worry about that. Luke, Cam, Smitty, Peppers, etc. have to worry about that. The benefit of NFL guys wearing full helmets during competition is that it's really only the legit superstars who have to deal with being constantly recognized in public.

Nice shot buddy

I would truly HATE to be famous. I'm not sure I would give up my public anonymity for anything. I couldn't imagine not being able to go to a restaurant, head to the grocery store, go grab a beer, etc. without being recognized and hounded. I would make an honest effort to be kind to fans because at the end of the day they're the reason you're able to have the life that you have, but damn... it would get old FAST.

You won’t even have to worry about that lil guy

I didn't intend that as a shot at you. I have no idea why you're so bitter... or why you go down this road of returning and being somewhat reasonable before flying off the rails and getting banned. Over and over again.

I'd be willing to bet there's a good number of "nice guy Jake" stories to be told. Mine wasn't much, but it gave me a good chuckle.

I got the chance to ask him on his way out to a camp practice which of his offensive linemen was the ugliest. He didn't have an answer but said he'd ask the question out on the practice field.

It wouldn't surprise me if he did :)

Didn’t intend to take a shot at me? That’s odd. Because the two guys I mentioned as being kind to me were Drayton Florence and Fozzy. Pretty sure that you have forgotten about Florence being a Panther. Take all the shots you want. Threaten me and the others all you want about getting banned. I’ve messaged plenty of other admins and mods about your crap.

Calm down, man. It wasn't a shot. I don't really even understand how you interpreted that as taking a shot at you.

Please, keep messaging and tagging them.

I’ve been banned a hundred times. But each time, I deserved it. I respected that and had no problem with all those mods. You on the other hand is a crappy disgruntled moderator who constantly takes little shots at others on here and get by it. You will try to act like you never did or intended to take a shot at someone. And I’m not referring that to just me. I’ve seen at least two other guys now that have mentioned the same thing on here recently about you. You forget about your position on the forum as a moderator. Goes back to being a sissy crap talking LinvilleGorge like always. Gets mad and then threatens guys with the “you don’t shut up, I’m banning you”.
