The largest negative people have about Teddy is that he won't elevate a team/win games himself and this film does zero to dispell that; NO had 150 yds and 2 TDs on the ground, which sure helps a QB look good.

It might be more interesting/compelling to analyze the Saints/Bucs game in Week 5 where they only rushed for 112 yards (still the 2nd highest total they gave up last season and 1 of only 3 games giving up more than 100 yds) and Teddy put up 26/34, 314 yds, 4 TDs, 1 int. Tampa's pass defense was also quite bad so what made Teddy successful there?

Teddy and Cam have something in common: dealing with Ted Ginn dropping catchable balls at times.

This throw wasn’t perfect, as we chronicle below. A shade late and outside—just a shade.

You’d like to see your WR haul this in.

Great point. I’ve done the tape on that game. He made some marvelous throws. Managed the game. Yes, TB’s secondary was suspect. And, you’re right: Payton protected him with a strong run game, and 6/7/8 man protections at times.

I’ll post some clips tomorrow.

Timing is a key component to vertical passing. Arm strength matters, but on the 9’s (go), or posts, placement and timing are equally crucial.

Bridgewater is generally very sound in that department. Kyle Allen was not. Newton has made some of the most elite post throws I’ve seen on tape over the last decade. But...post-2016, it hasn’t been as sharp. (Still effective, and probably more so in 2020 with the shoulder fully rehabbed)

By the way: Jake Delhomme was erratic, but he threw a great vertical ball before the elbow issues.
