They also started him for a few games. Makes me think it's not a lack of talent. I obviously don't have any insight into whether the staff thinks he's coachable at all, and if they cut him we'll get our answer, but he's cheap enough that it's going to be hard to replace him with anyone with more upside. It's not impossible that they want to see the raw 23 year old get a real NFL offseason before they move on from him.

Yes they started him, and he performed so poorly that they benched him.

Little doesn't have upside. I doubt he ever did.

Drafting him was a mistake. Compounding that mistake by keeping him around and wasting a roster spot on him isn't a good plan.

no. He is not starting and has played 38% of the total snaps on defense this year. He has only played more than 50% of the snaps for the bills twice this year. This includes the injuries and COVID players not active on game day.

Butler is probably a decent rotational DT. That's not a terrible thing. It's only a terrible thing when you take a decent rotational DT in the 1st round when DT is a position of strength on your roster and you have a ton of bigger needs. See also: Thompson, Shaq.

Yep. And again I'm going by what I've seen of him. I recall him having big plays in a couple of the Bills games I've watched this year, including the recent one against the Steelers.

Discussion here when we were watching that game was why he wasn't as good for us.

Derrick Brown plays more snaps but only has 29 tackles on the year.

Judging defensive tackles by stats hardly ever tells the whole story.

Star's stats were far less stellar than KK's, but we all know who was the real impact player between the two.

Justin Zimmer has played about 200 less snaps than Butler and has a much higher efficiency. He is on his 4th team in his 4 year career

The position that Butler plays should be stat driven. He is brought in to pressure passer and get into the backfield. He is ranked 69th in DT efficiency in the league. Butler isnt a good DT. He is average.
