Not sure how the Canes are favored in the opener, but they are.

Look, we're not out of this by any stretch of the imagination, but if we can't at least play .500 hockey against the top tier teams, it's not going to look good at the end of the year. Only 3 points out of the top spot, but somehow the "rebuilding" Blackhawks are playing good hockey right now. 

Let's get out of this rut, boys!

I hope that day at the golf course gave the team some much needed RnR. They need to come out fast and sharp.

Coming off a 3 game skid, if we have another sloppy 1st period. things could snowball fast.

GAME NOTES

• Sebastian Aho unsurprisingly leads the Hurricanes in points, with 17 in 19 games. Vincent Trocheck, Andrei Svechnikov, and Jordan Staal are close behind him. Trocheck and Nino Niederreiter are both sitting on nine goals for the season.
• The tendency to outscore their problems might make this a challenge for the Hurricanes, given James Reimer’s struggles in net recently. The defense and goaltending will need to be strong tonight to keep Florida’s dangerous scorers away from the net.
