A luxury pick in the top 10? Don’t get me wrong Chase is great, but that would leave Teddy trying to throw him the ball with no real LT to give him protection. Plus DJ, Anderson, Moore, and CMC are going to take away catches/opportunities for him.

Chase has the potential to become a Pro-Bowl WR. That's what you want when drafting at the 8th pick. Having two #1 quality WRs on the roster worked out well for the SB champion Bucs. We'd be a matchup nightmare for any defense we faced. Also if DJ is injured at some point our offense doesn't become worthless, and we can be special with Chase and DJ on the field at the same time.

As for the o-line, even with Okung missing most of the season with injury TB often had plenty of time to throw, or faced interior pressure (hence Pat Elflein.) What we can do is move Moton to LT, and draft one of the many good quality RTs who will be available at the top of the second round.

Where would he fit in the offense with DJ Robby and CMC? Are you drafting a top 10 pick  WR to be  a 4th option???

I still stand with going oline . Last year we almost over committed to Dline early and I would love to see the same commitment this year to the oline early. Getting something like Slater in R1 and Eichenburg or Leatherwood in R2 would work wonders for rebuilding the Oline . Then you can go get your safety and CB in the mid rounds . Use some late rounders on Dline and skill position depth . Maybe throw in a flier on some QB with one of those . There you go . Solid solid draft.

And if we're too good next year to draft a qb high once again ? Then you can splurg on a top FA qb ala Tom Brady situation and stick him into a roster that's already ready to rock .

If you mean trade down for Slater lower in round one, then yes I agree. Slater at 8, never in a million years. Short arms = RT or OG. Chase has way more value than Slater and it's not even close. having DJ and Chase at #1 and #2 would make our offense lethal. I'm all for drafting a LT, but we need proper value for the pick. Slater is a teens value pick.

I am a major proponent of building the o-line if the big 4 are gone. I want a trade down if Sewell and the other big 4 are off the table. If we're looking at Chase with the 8th pick, then I think a team slightly lower than us in need of a #1 wr will make an offer. I hope we take the offer and rebuild the o-line.

Having said all that, if we don't have an offer we need to take one of the top WRs because that is where the value will be. Having another lethal WR is not some sort of head scratching problem for our OC. Let's not be silly.

There's just absolutely no way 5 QBs get taken in the first 8 picks.

There's Lawrence and Wilson then a big gap to the rest of the pack. You're gambling on Fields, Jones or Lance (and that's a massive first round gamble considering his experience - some evaluators even like Mond over Lance).

There are a lot of desperate teams in need of qb (including us)...with trades, there absolutely could be 4 qb’s taken in the first 7 picks.

    • I know it was posted in another thread but it is buried at this point and figured it was good to see how he’s doing. Also, checkout these videos and tell me you are not excited to see this kid run behind our massive O line.. ARTICLE: Panthers 2nd-round pick Jonathon Brooks expects to be healthy for training camp. Even coming off an ACL tear, Jonathon Brooks was still the first running back taken in the 2024 NFL draft. And soon enough, that injury may not be a factor.   After a little movement in the second round, the Carolina Panthers settled in on the 46th overall slot used it to select Brooks. When speaking to reporters for the first time since the card was turned in, the 20-year-old rusher confirmed the belief that he should be ready to go by the start of training camp. “Honestly, as far as rehab goes, it’s good,” Brooks said. “I’m out there, I’m running, I’m about to start cutting. So I’m progressing well. I’m right on track on where I need to be. For me to get back to camp, it’s also just a blessing. I feel like this injury’s a blessing from God just being that it gives me a chance to focus on a lot of other things. As bad as it is, it’s the best-case scenario. I just only tore my ACL and it was a complete tear. It’s great, I can’t wait to get back out there and just can’t wait to keep playing football.” Brooks played some spectacular football before the tear—having rushed for 1,139 yards and 10 touchdowns over just 11 games. His efforts, while cut short, still earned him a second-team All-Big 12 selection for the 2023 season. The Panthers, who are sticking around in Charlotte this summer, will begin training camp in late July. -pantherswire.usatoday.com
    • How do you figure he will redshirt for a year? All indications are he will be ready for training camp.
    • Trading Thielen, huh? I could go for that. I'd trade him for a fourth (which turns into Malik Washington or Javon Baker) in a heartbeat.
