Would the following be acceptable to you?

Let's say that Fox sticks around another ten years before deciding to retire. (I know, I know, just let me finish.) Let's say that he finishes with the following records in the next ten seasons:

2009: 6-10

2010: 10-6

2011: 9-7 (first round wild card playoff exit)

2013: 5-11

2014: 7-9

2015: 11-5 (NFC Championship Game loss)

2016: 8-8

2017: 7-9

2018: 9-7

2019: 9-7

If you were the owner and you somehow knew without a shadow of a doubt that these would be your yearly finishes for the next ten years with Coach John Fox, would you fire him at the end of this season or would you be satisfied with those finishes?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Sam Mills Fan is not a fan of John Fox.

But it's just a guess and has nothing to do will his other 3000 posts complaining about Fox.

I would stick it out just for 2019. Consecutive winning seasons? What a great time to be a Panthers fan.

*fingers crossed*

On a serious note, I don't know if many owners would be content knowing that their current coach would not take them to a Super Bowl. Isn't that sort of the point of it all?

You must have missed the 2010/2011 prognostications. A 10-6 followed by a 9-7? Hell yeah.

BTW @ Sam Mills Fan: how come no playoff mention in 2010?

And for the original question, that is hardly a cellar dweller record for a decades worth of football. I'll take it, but hope for better.

    • It would depend on how we lost... If we lose a bunch of 17-13 . 20-7 type games where the defense plays well and offensively Bryce is sh***TING the bed...then he wouldn't get fired.  If we are losing 40-9, 38-14 type games..then yeah it's a possibility.   Couple that with our tough schedule.. if we show well in lets say half those games.. win either Seattle or New England game, at least 1 win vs division oponents.. he's good.  So imo.. to get fired he needs to : Loose badly against the top tier teams ie Blown out Show no progress offensively from last year. Show an unwillingness to bench Bryce again if he is horrible over multiple games ..  Get swept by the Saints again.
    • I think he's gone, and rightfully so, if he turns in another losing record. The "talented roster," regardless of how true or not, is a double-edged sword. If the roster is so much improved now from 202X then why are you still producing losing seasons? On one hand, maybe that's what needs to happen. Have the GM hire the new coach, and then have the new coach pick his guy to run his system. That is typically how it works in the NFL. Not the forced inheritance deal we have had in place.
    • Hinging on Brooks to be our spark...be good if it happens... but not holding my breath....RB next draft. Morgan gambled...it would be a 2 year payoff if thing happened.
