I can't help but feel like the defense is missing it, maybe Beason's still to new or Pep just doesn't want it, but if someone would step in not as a manager on defense (call plays, make adjustments) but have a fire in their game, a visible reaction to playing, could run defense be less of a problem.

For the first pass of every game Chris Harris should tee off on someone's skull, maybe that would give them a little passion.

Instead of heart, I was thinking we need cash to go out and get some more defensive linemen. Another defensive end, and a replacement, or at least a solid backup for Lewis.

I think the problem has more to do with our defensive coordinator than the players.

I actually think this group has plenty of heart. My only concerns are Lucas and Godfrey, but I don't question their heart at all.

Heart is just one of those phrases people throw around to try to explain a lack of performance instead of truly examining the game.

      Im not firm on many things football, but this statement or belief or strategy I am 100% for. Full Offseason the goal is to make the playoffs. Week 1, 1000% I want to win. Weeks 2-10,  1000% I want to win. Until the math stats 0.000000000% chance at NO playoffs, I want to win. *Once* there's no chance at the playoffs, I want to 100% lose every game until the end. You are still loser at 2-15 or 5-12, I want to never lose like this again. I want the best value for losing and suffering. Again the only goal is playoffs. Once in the playoffs anything can happen, I want to win the whole dam show. If you happen to lose in the first round, that's perfectly fine and lets work hard this upcoming off-season to get another chance to make them.  This is the ONLY way to play in the NFL. Anyone not understanding this method of strategy, please call your doctor for a visit...

      Purdy's good but at the end of the day you're paying first class money for a business class seat.  It's a big problem with the salary cap.  QBs take most of it whether they are Pat Mahomes or not.

      Purdy saved the 49ers from that three 1st picks for Trey Lance. People forget that. People also forget he should have MVP votes for the 23 season. He's been any where from the 8th(his best/23) to 14th ranked QB, he's legit and guys around top 10 get paid as QBs.....guys in 28th get paid too, he's 4x the QB Trevor Lawrence is and better than BY by miles as well...even without CMC, Samuel(whos a RB playing WE), and half the OL.    *BUT*    You non-believers missed this ultra important mistake that honestly made me reconsider all the praise I gave him. https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers/news/49ers-qb-brock-purdy-throws-blind-40-percent   That's is damming to my case and reset my thinking of his.
