Bill Cowher guarantees...

...looks from capable free agent QBs.

Anyone with a brain knows that Cowher's credibility alone will make Carolina attractive for a number of free agents, particularly QBs, who will also like having Williams and Stewart in the backfield.

This is reason alone to can Fox, and hire Cowher if he's willing to come here.

But what about money? If a QB like the team but don't get pay enough, he won't come here. Liking a team isn't the only way a QB will come here mind you. ;)

if we bring in Cowher were in trouble. If Cowher comes so does the 3-4, and if we go to the 3-4 we just do not have the personnel to run it. In my opinion Peppers becomes useless he is to big to be an OLB. Jon Beason will become useless, he is best served in a 4-3. It is just like Jonathan Vilma who was a Pro Bowl MLB for the jets and then disapeared after the Jets moved to a 3-4 and was traded. Also successful 3-4 have a ballhawking safety like Polamalu and Reed, which we lack. Damione Lewis would have to be shifted to DE and I do not see Thomas Davis being a pass rushing OLB that the 3-4 requires.

I'm not a proponent of signing a free agent quarterback this offseason. There are quality players that will be out there at positions we are also in need of (wide receiver, defensive line, safety) that I would rather splurge on in free agency. We need to aim big when it comes to quarterback and look to the draft.

Yep. That is one of the big concern of mine if Cowher come here. It would take years to be a contender again if he change the defense. You don't just change what work for Beason, Davis, Martin, Gamble, etc. If Cowher come here, I want him to keep Meeks & run the same defense. It seem to be working, so why change that? He should tweak the offense instead, since we need a lot of work on that.

After winning the Super Bowl, Peyton Manning restructured to help save the team money. If I remember correctly, Tom Brady also took a pay cut to help the team bring in other players.

But those being the two best quarterbacks in the league on two of the consistently best teams in the league is probably a bad example.

I remeber that. It would be nice if Jake restructured his contract to help us get some FAs & he can be #2.

One can only hope that Delhomme will possibly consider retirement after this season. It would certainly allow us the money to get a decent starter next year, if not in the years to follow. 8-18..6 fumbles-3 lost. No excuses for him to still be in as he is dragging down this team. Deangelo's facial expression at the end of the game said it all.

I'll be wearing my Fire Fox shirt next week in the endzone for sure.

I see what you're saying, but Peppers would be a beast in a 3-4. He is the most athletic guy we have on the defensive side of the ball. He is a lot faster than we think he is. Presently, in my opinion, we are more athletic at LB anyway. Regardless, we need better interior linemen, whether they are 3-4 or 4-3.

As well, I don't think that he would bring the 3-4 no matter what. But even if he did, changing things wouldn't necessarily be the worst thing because we aren't getting any younger anyway. We are past the Super Bowl window.

Even though I am personally defensive minded, in this league, I'd rather have a great offense rather than a great defense, because the majority of the rules work against the defense anyway (roughing QB / pass interference are the most glaring examples) because fans want to see points scored, not 6-3 ballgames.

Cower is man enough to accept using a 4-3. He's not some spoiled little rich kid who only wants things his way.

He was a coach & GM at the same time with the Steelers, wasn't he? That reek spoiled little rich kid there & I don't want that here. The only thing I accept with him here is he just be the coach only & keep Meeks. Period.

    • Let it all out bro.   At the end of the day Charlotte fans just aren't that passionate as other fans. The Panthers and Hornets crowds are wack.    Go to a Canes game and you will understand this. Tell the family I said hi and Happy Father's Day.
    • Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. Best place to live?  LMAO... that's your criteria...  Charlotte gets put all over those lists too... come on man... and those lists have zero to do with sports. I'm done after this bc I'm punching down intellectually here... The Panthers have been bad for 6 years now. You are obviously young and not overly educated based off the "dunks" you're putting out there that certainly are, so let me educate you today on the Panthers. The Panthers sold out for well over a decade straight. BOA has been as good an environment as there is when the team is good.  Fan support for the Panthers has been incredible when the team has even remotely reciprocated. The idea that Charlotte doesn't support the Panthers is utter BS. People in Raleigh have the biggest little brother syndrome of all time... Nobody outside of the Triangle cares about any of your "vaunted" sports team outside of Duke-UNC in basketball on a national scale. Sure, the Canes are great. But nationally, the WWE dwarfs the NHL in ratings. More people care about Cody Rhodes than Sebastian Aho... or anyone else in the NHL for that matter... I doubt less than 5% of anyone in this state outside of Raleigh even knows who that is... that's a knock on Aho who is a great player, it's just the NHL barely makes a ripple in the overall hierarchy of American sports. It's not in the same universe as the NFL or NBA no matter how badly you want to tell yourself otherwise. Raleigh is not a big-time sports city, no matter how much you want to scream into the abyss about it. Neither is Charlotte. But no one here is making such a nonsense argument... LOL it's good to be young and to be ignorant enough to be confidently wrong... WTF are you even on this board though since Charlotte is so beneath you? There is an actual discussion board on this very site for Raleigh sports since they are so superior...  Maybe it's bc I'm watching Idiocracy with my son, but your timing is perfect, my man... The dumbest among us have become the most confidence in their ignorance... God Bless America!!
    • You do know the biggest military base in the US is located just an hour from Raleigh in Fort Bragg right? Military families are family oriented. A hour drive to games is nothing compared to traveling 3 hours to Charlotte.   Cmon man there is nothing happening in Western Carolina other than Charlotte. I only go west for outdoor activities and some nature/mountain views.
