I don’t know why or if that is even the case man. I just said that I hope that it is the case.

if we want leverage some use cases.. we could say..

1. New system and using incremental game planning to gradually work through the playbook

2. baker has only been here for 3 months and probably doesn’t know the entire playbook 100.%

3. The plays are there but the team is not executing

that’s all I got.

It's possible that they aren't  opening up the playbook very far, but they really need to flip the pages to the poo that works.

Yeah, number 1 seems the most feasible. I will say that I have yet to see repetitive plays called week to week. That’s encouraging. Even formations have changed week to week.  I’ve seen the same play called multiple times in the second game but not across multiple games like we did with joe Brady

I really don't agree that he's been successful.  Just because the Browns have been awful at QB doesn't mean he's got real franchise QB potential.  He had a good season in 2020 because it looked like he was improving, but he has regressed since then.  His decision making and accuracy are too poor to be a good QB.

Cleveland was 0-16 when I was introduced to this obnoxious QB from Oklahoma. 1-15 the year prior. They won 7 games or more every year since, including 11, and a playoff win.

It's the most success CLE has had since the new era. This also does mention the records/ranking he holds on the all-time CLE lists.

He didn't regress in 2021. He was injured, with up to 6 injury designations at one point. He had one of the best rookie seasons by a QB ever, had a poor sophomore season, a strong third, and an injured fourth.

He is playing his worst football NOW.

He looks worse in Carolina than he ever did in CLE, including the latter half of 2021, when those injuries destroyed his mechanics and further pushed his decision making to poo.

He's very possible a ruined QB now. But he was a success in the least successful sports franchise.

As an ex-CLE fan it's crazy making to me how people rewrite the history of that franchise.

Definitely true that Baker is still in the process of learning the offense as he goes. Probably would have helped not to have wasted practice reps in a farce competition. In year three if the players are continuing to struggle executing it's on the head coach. My fear is this is much more than just not opening up the playbook this is what a Rhule and McAdoo offense looks like and Baker is what the Browns concluded he was when they made his services available. Matt Rhule of all people should know running CMC like a powerback has not worked and will not be sustainable. We must find a real passing attack or this season is already effectively over and no some check downs to Shenault do not qualify. This is why the 49ers game is checkmarked as my first big let's see where we're at game. If Shanahan goes in dry we need to clean house.

I understand why you have brought 49ers into the equation now. Im watching the condensed replay of the game now...  im seeing some conerns on our O that isnt going to fall on McAdoo ... not defending him. But Im extremely concerned about DJ...

Speaking of offense being garbage..... image.png.b3ed99410253805f852716f73c25d2fa.pngTremble and DJ collide into each other on a third down.  Tremble is on a deep route and DJ is on a zig... I will say it appears that DJ goes too long before he begins his zig. If he stays shallow, it turns into a bigger gain, and Baker doesnt have to hold onto the ball too long.

Poor route running? He's been up and down with his effort going back to last season but things have never been this bad. We can assign blame to the players when they mess up but as others have noted look at the turnaround and results for some teams rosters that were bad and had simialr problems now with a fresh coaching staff. Example the Jaguars. I will definitely check in when you post your breakdown of the game though thanks.

Here is that infamous 4th down play... this one is on Baker... believe it or not Baker wasnt as bad as what we saw today. Our O-line (Ickey mainly) took away some throws for Baker. So Baker has to get this ball out fast.. I think they were expecting man, but Saints went zone... which makes it even more important that Baker delivers this ball to DJ or CMC right out the gate. Here is a screenshot right when Baker gets to his drop.

    • I am gonna believe it wasn’t us if the 4th round pick price is accurate. We needed 225 points to get from 19 to their pick. 875 at 19 to 1100 at 14.  Our 2026 4th was valued at 56 points I think. A future 4th has less value. So that wasn’t close to enough.    It would have taken our third and our fourth. Comes within a point of even.    Now, moving to their spot in the second round we could have done but after Miami took Rodriguez why would we?
    • Yep,and Blake Miller have had more experiences than Freeling,Lions did not sigh a vet T like Walker,so they had to pick Miller.
    • I mean it's expected.  This is the NBA.  And they hate the Charlotte Hornets.  Flagg was also the guy "magically" given to the Mavs who lost Luca to the wildly popular Lakers.  Was always an uphill battle.  But the award is BS since it's not voted on before play-in starts. Kon probably lost because of the play-in as many people switched votes.  It was a regular season award, so this is some nonsense.  Kon also didn't have the luxury of taking 10 games off to rest up injuries like Flagg did.  If he did, he wouldn't have been nursing his back the last month.  I mean, screw him for being on an actual playoff team that matters.  Flagg took tons of shots a game, he was wildly inefficient.  Kon was a huge reason the Hornets made the play-in and turned the season around after Jan.   I think Flagg will probably be the better player long term, or at least the most impact.  But Kon should have won ROTY.
