Panthers have a good pressure defense, a run blocking offensive line, and a punter who can win the SB.

The return game is not playoff ready with Shi Smith.

There is no offensive playmaker to keep up with a good offensive team in a shoot out.

The receivers are not playoff caliber.

The QB is not playoff caliber, and is unreliable in GWD situations.

The OTs are not good enough in their pass blocking to fend off playoff caliber edge rushers and give the QB time.

The defense does not score points off turnovers to win a game on their own.

This team has one shot at the SB and that is how they won against the Seahawks. They need to execute flawlessly and take their chances early in games to run up the score in the 2nd quarter. They need to control the clock for 40 minutes and keep their defense fresh.

This hasn't ever happened, and the Ravens with Dilfer at QB would be the closest example, but that team could create turnovers and score more than their offense. Wilks and McAdoo as coaches can position this team to do the impossible, but the players will have to be disciplined and execute with the ball bouncing the Panthers way for the next 8 games.

Actually a great breakdown.  Here are my possible wedges. Agree Defense. Totally capable. Fugg I'm having a hard time to deal with your rebukes but if this run pass line becomes 80s skins, you don't need All-stars. Play action to what we have can work.

Does Pittsburgh have a significantly better run D? Other teams stats are my enemy.

Panthers Y/A is 4.5. They are 17th in the NFL. They were 4.9 Y/A against the Seahawks.

The run defense in the NFL this season are bad. Most are around 4.5.

The only 3 run defenses you need to be concerned about with Bozeman at C are the Ravens, Titans, and 49ers.

The only thing the Panthers need behind that Bozeman led OL in the playoffs with the poor run defenses this season is a playmaking RB who can also be a receiving threat out of the backfield. A power back will only get you to the playoffs behind a good OL. When you are up against the Ravens, Titans, or 49ers, you will need a dynamic RB. You can hope the rotation of Blackshear and Hubbard will be enough to make the plays for 1st downs.

You can also hope the Panthers do not face any of these 3 teams. The run offense and pressure defense is good enough against all other teams to execute Wilks time of possession strategy while Wilks protects against the teams weaknesses.

play action, screens, and 3 step drops with Darnold running after 2 reads is the only passing game this team has against playoff teams. Run Darnold and cross your fingers. Be ready to run through every QB and lose them to injury. Darnold and Walker can both make this work if you are not trying to keep them for the future.

Feeling you have some hope too.  We don't need Darnold to even feel like he is good. He is being put in good situations and learning. I know, was the biggest hater but I think he is getting in stride with his role. All I'm saying is nothing is off the table though improbable and I'll take that.

Man, I get it. Slim chances but I'll take slim to none.  End game is Sam has to be good when our opponent sells out on the run. Can he? Million dollar question.

    • lol well that kinda ended up working out in the end, even though I still don't have my jersey yet. Was supposed to ship by tomorrow this time, but just got another email saying it was delayed another 3 weeks and because it's been delayed so long, I had to tell them to keep the order or cancel it, but gave me a 25% off my next order as an apology. Well, my original fear came true and they are now selling the FUSE version (but still not the Blue unfortunately) before the one I ordered was ever shipped. But that's awesome, because I was able to use that coupon to order the FUSE instead and then cancelled the original order.  So I got the jersey I wanted for only $6.30 more than the crappier version costs, and it also says it will be shipped immediately and get here early next week, or 2 weeks before the other was now supposed to be shipped out.
    • I've watched this and think we are well underway.  Believe it or not, Bryce is a big part of this.  The way he bounced back with such grace.  And we've got a lot of young players who want to make their mark, Dave is giving them an opportunity.  I loved our draft.  I like the number of guys we brought in, and they will help build the culture we want under Dave.  We're getting closer, and I think we'll see more wins this year than most of the board. The right culture breeds winning, and winning builds the right culture.  Imho, it's coming.
    • As others have said it's both. One creates the other. But it also takes time sometimes years. And there have been teams lately with new car smell coaching staffs that looked like they were putting it together quickly but things came crashing back down to Earth. Sustainability is the key. For that to happen the meddling of our owners has to stop and they cannot be tempted to return to their ways over any bump in the road either.
