Happened sooner than expected but the early calls were right this time, As opposed to shayna’s Tarasenko to the Canes misfire weeks ago. “She’s reliable” as I remember reading here lol.

To be fair to Shayna it was reported that the Canes and Tarasenko’s agent agreed to a deal, they were literally waiting on the documents to be sent to the league office. Then Tank flipped out and fired his agent. No one saw that coming.

Maybe I’m the only one, but Im not waiting on a Pesce trade because I don’t want to see him traded. If it happens it happens but not something I want or think the Canes need to do. When Svech is healthy enough to play and with some of our guys already improving. along with Orlov and Bunting we’ve a solid cup contender.

No. Shayna called it wrong period. No proof they were just waiting on docs to be sent. Tarasenko fired his agent many days after Shaynas post.

You’re wrong but you do you.

The NHL Network even stated that we had a press release ready to go.

Additionally, Shayna’s tweet was on the 4th of July, Tarasenko fired his agent on the 5th… not exactly many days.

Sheesh dude… no reason to get bent out of shape.

Just stating the fact that Shayna was reporting the information she was given and she’s usually very reliable. Sometimes things happen after the fact and the outcome changes.

It doesn’t make Shayna any less credible.

Canes can get to $2.5M in cap space if they move Coghlan and send Kochetkov to our non-existent minor league team.

Could probably get Tatar for that number if we wanted to.

He’s a guy that could probably hold down the fort on a line with Kotkaniemi and Necas until Svechnikov returns and then you can put him on the fourth line where he’d probably be able to take advantage of easy matchups.

Well you are correct about the dates on Shayna’s post and the agents firing I checked. But you have no proof that they were just waiting on the contact-a press release is not a contract.

In any case I’m good if you see Shayna as reliable, maybe she usually is.

But my goodness just admit it. Shayna was wrong. Doesn’t matter if the sun was in her eyes and she didn’t see the ball coming, that’s just excuse making.

There’s your proof. And like I said, things can change. It doesn’t mean that the information that Shayna was originally provided with wasn’t correct and then became incorrect later.

I don’t know how long you’ve been a Canes fan but the same situation happened last year. Every pundit reported that we had agreed to terms with Mason Marchment and then Dallas came in and stole him from us. It doesn’t mean that all the talking heads were wrong, it just means that something happened and the situation changed.

The only reason I even said anything was because of your sarcastic remark about Shayna being reliable. Once again, not sure how long you’ve been a Canes fan but she broke the news of the Skjei trade when he was sent from the Rangers to Carolina.

Everyone has hits and misses but she’s right more often than not.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
