My first encounter with Trex many years ago on Lake Norman when we docked at what is now Eddie's, I stepped onto the dock barefoot and blistered a foot.

If you think the boards are expensive, wait til you see the prices for the clips and screws.

Yeah, the heat issue is just a deal breaker for me. Keep it clean too because of you let any mildew at all build up you have an ice skating rink when it's damp. Oh, and use the Trex tape over your joists or your framework will end up rotting out around the screws and our from under your Trex.

All your works looks really really  good ..    Ya'll will enjoy all the hard work.

The heat here isn't hotter than normal ( 90-99 degrees daily )  for August . Usually we get s cooler day or two every now and then.

Rain amounts are down depending on when we get a hurricane in the neighborhood.  4 and 5 yrs ago we had mother nature pass by the coast.

1 yr ago  down   -13"

2 yr ago    - 28"

3 yr ago        - 16"

4 yr ago         - 4"

5 yr ago         - 1"

So over 5 years we're not down but 1 inch..  but we all know crops don't grow with rain from 5 years ago.

All wrapped up except for staining the new wood. I'll post some pics later. Meanwhile, my wife has me questioning my own interpretation of reality. We had guests over last night and she was proudly boasting of the work that "we" did. Now granted, I was probably on the borderline of heat stroke most of the time I was working on this stuff but I am convinced that I was working alone. Not once do I recall so much as the offer of help. But again, that could just be my own faulty interpretation of reality through the fog of heat exhaustion because she was pretty convincing that "we" did it. 😂

The two become one, you know, the thing.

Gorgeous!  I’m so afraid to take on project like that and screw it up.  My wife will never let it go.  How long did it take you?

4-5 days of half working half cussing about the heat and trying not to have a heat stroke. Pickets take forever. I did the middle third of the underneath of the back deck to. One third of it is already covered by the overhanging roof, another third already has metal roofing underneath to provide a covering and I'm going to do the other third similarly. That way we'll have the covered front porch, the back deck, then the patio underneath will be fully covered too. Getting the hot tub for the patio next week.

Damn, you got good hands.  You are encouraging me to take on project like this.  I always wanted to redo my deck and was looking to hire someone.  Nearly 60% of the cost is labor and it’s so damn expensive.  So far, I was unable to justify it until one of my legs falls through and my wife yells at me.  I might look into it for early spring project and try to do it myself.

    • I am really sorry  that  happened to you they say to never meet your sports heroes i have friends who met  mickey mantle when they were young and he was a belligerent alcoholic at the time  ut broke their hearts  I had the opportunity to meet and spend  time with Cam Newton.     He was the polar opposite of Steve Smith and his public image.   Polite.  Honest when asked question.  You could tell the things that mattered to him and the things that  didnt. The disappointments in himself and the things that hurt him  those qualities make him quite a good interviewer too  i genuinely liked him   Im sure as young, rich, sports hero, he has not been a choir boy but there is goodness in him  the time i met him i took one of my friends with me from the west coast. She said she didn't like him and wasn’t enthusiastic about meeting him.  She left loving him   No one can say anything bad about ‘her Cam’ anymore
    • Agree about oline. They've tried their best to improve that area. But honestly, has it looked like the most expensive oline in the NFL to you? Not just with Bryce. With Dalton's one game where they almost got the old man killed.  Also YAC shouldn't always be hitting a guy in stride while he's running full speed. Pickens killed us after the catch and those weren't all hit-in-stride plays. I remember a play in Miami when a guy caught a 5 yards curl and took it like 30-40 yards to the house. We don't have that in Carolina. Horn might be the closest thing to that but he can't get significant PT for whatever reason. If Bryce keeps trusting his receivers to make plays, I think he'll become more consistent. Seemed like he only trusted TMac. And force feeding one receiver isn't sustainable. Defenses will start to blanket him and take him out of the game. And yeah, keep taking deep shots. I hate all that dink and dunk football. Hate it.
    • Dan Marino sucked too I guess. Washed up Elway carried by Terrell Davis was actually better than prine Elway. Lol
