That Duke QB looks legit. I was wondering why some of my buddies kept hyping him all off season.

Maye has some competition at QB in the ACC this year. That Florida State kid looks legit as well.

Duke QB went 17/33 for less than >200 yards.

I mean, he can run.  He ain’t in the convo with those other QBs off that.

Rankings are a joke.

Clemson being ranked #9 was a joke.

You and a Paul Finnebaum going to stroke out if Dabo finds a way to 10-3 in the end.   Clemson still got the best coach and roster in the conference.

You must not know me.

I don't believe in great coaches.

Elite players is what make coaches. Dabo is simply not getting the recruits he's use to getting. Clemson winning 10 games will be overachieving with that roster.

Elite players do make coaches

but it’s still the best roster in the ACC with the best coach.   I feel no different about things than the last couple seasons.

This. He's a good college QB. He's not an NFL prospect unless he makes major leaps as a passer. He's a Darian Durant or Marquise Williams or Taj Boyd or Brandon Randall. All good college QBs.

Clemson's last five recruiting class rankings: 7, 10, 5, 3, 10.

Clemson is recruiting just fine.

Those class rankings don't mean anything. If anything is shows you Dabo is underachieving as a coach if he's still getting the top ranked classes and not producing.

You can't get blown out by a nerd basketball school. The talent level is just different. Dabo needs to step up if he's so great.

Clemson is on a historic run right now.  Something only 2 others programs have ever done.  12 straight double digit win seasons with a top 25 finish.  With 2 nattys mixed in.

ACC champs in 7 of the last 8 seasons (including last season)

Not producing?

Dabo is getting it done.   What we are witnessing is essentially a comical exaggerated response to an opening week flop on the road.  It’s sports.  It happens.

I mean, if we're strictly taking recruiting then yeah they mean a lot. Look at the teams that consistently get the highest rated recruiting classes. They're consistently among the elite teams. They're elite because they're gobbling up the elite talent.

South Carolina is probably behind Florida when it comes to elite recruits. It helps that all the talent are coming from his state mostly.

Yeah, having local talent is a nice perk but SC probably isn't all that high. Texas is definitely the 1b to Florida. Then you have California, Georgia, Virginia, honestly NC is probably above SC. SC is honestly probably borderline top 10.

The ACC as a whole sucks. That's how Clemson gets overrated. Winning a bad conference is not something that impresses me.

Put Clemson in the SEC I doubt he has the same success.

I know it sounds like im a Clemson hater, but im really not. Im just not impressed with the ACC as a whole. If we talking basketball then the ACC is top tier.

I mean, I don’t know what you are really arguing at this point.

Dabo doesn’t recruit but has a top 10 class every year.  He is struggling with #1 overall QB prospects.   He most definitely is recruiting elite talent.

Then he isn’t getting it done.  He coaches in the ACC.  That just is what it is. 7 of the last 8 ACC titles is getting it done.  A historic stretch is getting it done.

and he has 2 nattys vs Bama.  King Kong.  Frankly, could have easily had a 3rd too with that first Watson matchup.

I don’t know what your bar is. But it seems a tad unreasonable. But I get hating on Dabo/Clemson.  Runs like they have been on are annoying in general and I fully understand why most of been wishing for the fall of it

I mean, he's supposedly a UNC fan who spends all his time arguing that every other QB is better than Maye and Maye ain't poo if we don't go to the playoffs. He's an odd one. 😂

What superstars have came from NC in the last 10 years?

SC off the top of my head has produced Deandre Hopkins/Clowney/Stephon Gilmore/Deebo Samuel just to name a few.

There's more to it than just superstars. NC was 7th with 95 players on NFL rosters last year. SC was 15th with 56.

Calling Clowney a superstar is a pretty big reach. He hit a Michigan RB really hard and got drafted #1 overall. Those are his career highlights.

So you want me to fit in with you other UNC homers?

Don't think I don't see the comments about your clique.lol

Im reasonable with Maye. He's great, but he's not on the same talent level as Caleb. Im not even sure if he's the 2nd best QB in the country at this point. The Pac is loaded with talented QB's.

Do I want Maye to win the Heisman? Yes.

Do I think Maye will win the Heisman? Probably not.

Im all for UNC but im not going to call Maye the best QB just because im a UNC fan. There is a reason Caleb is getting all the hype and Nat'l commercials right now. He's the real deal.

Yeah, I'm a total homer. 😂

The homers say I'm nothing but a fairweather fan.

If your boy Caleb tries to hold the ball for four seconds in the NFL it's not gonna go well.

    • In my view, the realistic expectation for this team to compete will start 2027.  At that time, I think we could be looking at the following (this is HIGHLY speculative):   QB:  You know, Bryce.  I am not a fan, but they don't ask me.  But there is reason for hope--and here it is.  Bryce will be entering his prime.  Since we are likely to pay him, there will be changes that I include throughout this exercise--I realistically speculate on what they are going to do with Bryce and then I realistically speculate on what means in terms of the cap and other positions. Bryce HAS IMPROVED.  The idea is that if you give him more weapons and protection, that will continue.  His career:   At this rate, if his growth continues, by 2027 we should expect nearly 30 TDs and about 12 Interceptions and a Rating of about 98.  His completion percentage should settle at 65-66% or so.  If that happens, you can win with it. The following stats demonstrate how the Panthers will be able to afford it (and re-sign Ickey) My guess is they will require about $60m per year. This is why rookies who can play are important.  It also helps us see the blueprint.  You may disagree, but this is the cruel realities of the salary cap. Robert Hunt:  Cut post June 1 and save $19m.  Who do you replace him with?  Ickey. Tershawn Wharton:  Cutting him saves nearly $15m.  We should all hope to see Aaron Hall (UDFA) make the roster and play well.  Regardless, this is a position we would likely have to address in the next draft. Trevin Moehrig:  Cutting Moehrig as the starting SS saves this team $16.5m.   Ransom will be on year 3 of a cheap rookie deal and should be more than ready to take the reins.  their styles are similar.  Furthermore, FS Wheatley (R, 4th round) will be starting. Taylor Moton:  So much depends on his knee, but I have an idea that he can play another 3 years.  extending him could save the team about $5m per year.  Cutting him outright would save the team about $21m. In the most drastic situation, we have to cut Moton and the other three players mentioned.   We would need (in all likelihood) a starting DT and RT.  It is possible that the DE would be addressed, but Wharton's production (so far) could be equaled by a rookie.  Look for a cut free agent and a 2027 draft pick here.  If you cut Moton, you save $21m, and that would be the only big hole to fill.  Having Ickey at RG gives you some depth at T, and Ickey could be the guy.  T could be pick in the 2027 draft (first round), fwiw.  It saves you $21m while costing you $5m, for example. We get younger, creating a core of Freeling, Hecht, and the RT first rounder in 2027) along with Ekownu (second contract in the $15m range, and Lewis, whose contract would be in the $16m range if not extended.)  The OL cuts (Hunt, Moton) would save $40m.  The OL would get younger and still solid with veterans at G.   By cutting Wharton (no brainer if his play stays the same) and Moehrig (good player--but we have Ransom on a rookie contract who would not be that much of a drop off--if any) in addition to Hunt and Moton, we would save over $70m in cap room. We would be able to give Bryce bag  and we would have enough to re-sign Ickey (if the knee is not too risky) to a Guard contract (probably at a discount, coming off that injury).  Furthermore, we could add a RT in the draft (or a RG if Ickey moves to RT) and that would be the only large hole to fill. Correct my logic if you see issues-- On defense, in addition to the aforementioned, Scott ($2m contract) is out, replaced by a 4th round rookie contract. CB Jackson's contract ($7.8m) expires and he is (possibly) replaced by a rookie contract.  At Edge, patrick Jones II's $10m contract expires and he is likely a reserve, and his role is absorbed by Phillips, Scourton, Princely, and possible an UDFA like Isaiah Smith or a 2027 draft pick.   These productive developmental players over the past 2 drafts will pay huge dividends.  On paper, I see the team getting much younger and possibly better while cutting nearly $100m and reallocating that money to get more production.
    • If everything played out and that last thing happened, I probably just quit.
