So Delhomme is as good as gone now, right?

Our fair weather and spoiled fanbase has set expectations way too high.

I disagree. Our spoiled franchise has worked hard to erase expectations instead of working hard towards winning. I expect & demand a winner. In 15 years of business, the Carolina Panthers are not that. I have every right to be dissapointed with that. The object of the game is to win, and your goal should be the Super Bowl EVERY year. But we can crawl before we walk and Ill say the goal should be back to back winning seasons.

Our expansion brother Jaguars envy our franchise's success.

Jags/Panthers wins since inception:

118/109

Not counting this year which would make it worse.

We've won 6 playoff games, Jags have won 5.

Man, we just blow them outta the water. What a sad franchise.

i think fox has a better shot of getting canned than delhomme.

richardson played football, he knows very well that Players get in a funk.

Delhomme is not in a funk. He is DONE!!!!

It's funny when people compare our franchise to other ones such as the Texans, Jaguars, and Browns....why not the Patriots or Steelers? Didn't we want to model our franchise after the Steelers?

Get that mediocre thinking out of here! I can't believe we still have fans that think like that. Delhomme is finished!

"We win every other season, but at least we're not the Raiders/Browns/etc." WTF?! Strive higher than that guys...

NFL facts: Bad seasons happen. Players have bad years. Good coaches will keep their jobs.

Main thing: It's not easy winning in the NFL and the Panthers are not yet a franchise ready to have several winning seasons in a row. Still need to work towards building traditions and a winning culture. I think Fox is the best guy to get this done without having to do a massive rebuilding--which could send us the other direction.

That being said, we have already surpassed many long-time franchises. Our expansion brother Jaguars envy our franchise's success. The Texans/Browns are not even close and would love to be in our situation. Our fair weather and spoiled fanbase has set expectations way too high.

So what are you suggesting? We should be happy with being better than the worst but not as good and consistent as the best? Be happy with mediocrity?

3 winning seasons in the past 7 (if you include this year) + John Fox's brand of football is not good enough for me. It is time to move on.

Panther Super Bowl appearances: 1

Jaguar Super Bowl appearances: 0

Panther blackouts post-Clemson: 0

Jaguar blackouts: Eleventy billion

Estimated value of the Panthers franchise is much higher than the Jaguars as well.

Yep, we lost a Superbowl 6 years ago. That changes everything.

Jags as a team and franchise have very little to do with the blackouts, that's location. Honestly, the only reason the Panthers never risk a blackout is PSLs. Smart move there.

Jags as a team/franchise have been more successful than we have, and with having to play the Colts and Titans twice every season.

Great point, that one extra win they have over us this year really makes a difference.

The Jaguars had strong initial success like us, but they have been drastically different since the 2000 decade began (1-2 playoffs, no conference championship appearances). They have not had back to back winning seasons since Coughlin was around. Their attendance is horrible and they will be out of Jacksonville as soon as possible.

We get compared to the Browns, Texans, and Jaguars because we are all recent expansion teams playing in a league full of history and teams with generations of long-time fan bases.

Yes @ the bold! I agree with all of this! Thats the problem with a good portion of our fanbase, and the higher ups in the organization. It feels like they are content with mediocrity.

and haha at Jake being in a funk . He's been done for awhile

Are you sure there's heat from the FO? A big part of our FO (Hurney) gave Delhomme the extension and has backed him.

Jake has been costing us games since the season started (and killed our playoff run last year), yet was the starter until it didn't matter. They didn't realize how dumb that was at the time.

Id have imagine there will be if the Jake starts next year.. Regarldess of who backed them, Jake is done. They know that now. There would be no logical reason to have him start besides big injuries. I higly doubt the FO will allow Fox to continue if Fox plans on Jake starting. Which I don't think he woul do.

    • Would Morgan or Beason have been HOFers' if injuries hadn't derailed their careers?  I was not a close watcher of the game when Morgan was in his prime but I thought Beason had a few seasons at close to Lukes' level of play.
    • Franchise QBs feast when things are rolling and the tide that raises boats when things are going sideways.  Bryce isn't that. He's a complimentary player, that's it.  When the defense and STs are on point, he plays loose and it shows.  When we are in a dog fight and things haven't gone our way, he struggles.  It's that simple. He's not a horrible QB, but he's not top tier either.  So the question begs, is this worthy of a second contract?  The answer should be no.  It definitely is my answer. Bryce will never be a QB that can produce wins largely on his arm.  That's a FRANCHISE QB, any other QB is simply a placeholder at the starter's position until that guy can be found.   At some point the excuses of lack of weapons will be a straw man.  Heck, it's nearly there now.  I mean if he doesn't look even better than last year will we blame it on the TE position?  'Well if Bryce only had a player like Kelce, Kittle or Gronk on this team...'  Are we really going to do that?
    • When I arrived at college, I was 18, not too much younger than some of these draft picks.  It was not a huge school, but there were guys on the team who were 21, 22, 23....playing ahead of me.  I was seventh on the depth chart.  Those guys have been through a few seasons, were stronger, more knowledgeable.  I was a better raw player than some of them, but those other factors matter.  As I grew stronger, more familiar with the playbook, and learned what it was like to play in college, I gradually improved and with that, I rose up the depth chart.  It took most of my freshman year for the light to come on.  Had the coach thrown me into the starting lineup day 1, I would have probably failed.    And that was college.  So I agree with you based on my experience on a much lower level.  Frankly, I think that is why so many kids drafted to fill huge gaps bust.  The teams are desperate.  Anyone who looks to fill vacancies in the starting lineup through the draft is desperate.  You draft depth to develop.  For this reason, I say, "Let Walker start for a while."  Maybe Brazzell can be our WR 4.  Throw Hunter into a rotation and ask him to do one or two things.  Freeling needs some strength and he needs to work on run blocking.
