Report: Cowher meeting with Bills again today

Posted by Mike Florio on January 5, 2010 9:54 AM ET

At a time when there's an emerging sense that former Steelers coach Bill Cowher will remain on the sidelines for at least another year, multiple readers have brought to our attention a report from an obscure web site headquartered in the town of East Aurora, New York.

Per Joe Logan of EastAurora.org (which hopefully has the hamster power to withstand the coming crush of web traffic), Cowher will be in Buffalo on Tuesday for a face-to-face meeting with the Bills.

Giving the report more credibility is that the item, posted on January 4 at 6:35 a.m. ET, stated that the Bills would be firing the entire coaching staff on Monday. If there has been no time-stamp sleight-of-hand, Logan was the first to report that the coaches would be getting shown the door.

Logan also reports that Cowher is expected to make a decision on his coaching future by the end of the week, and that the Bills and the Panthers are the current contenders for Cowher's services.

Anybody think it is hilarious we get this announcement this morning as well

A caller to this morning's Mac Attack stated that that the NFL Network is reporting that John Fox's agent has stated that "Fox will not be back without an extension".

He walks into Carolina job and odds are we are good(with or without him) next season, makes him look like a genius.

He takes Buffalo job, and odds are they still suck next season.

plus its cold and he lives in Raleigh: He really wants to the Carolina job IMO.

Would he keep Meeks though?

Cowher isn't coaching the Bills lol. He's one of the most sought-after coaches in the league, and would not go to a team that needs that much work.

I don't think it's a coincidence that he was saying he'd be back, and right when Jerry said Fox can come back he retracts his statements and says he doesn't want to coach in 2010.

He wants a team that can compete immediately, and Panthers are the closest to HIS steelers team as you can get. Big powerful offensive line, excellent run game, awesome defense..

Just another speculation.

"And what of Bill Cowher? Reports started swirling Monday that the ex-Steelers head coach may not love any of the limited opportunities on this year's carousel, prompting him to remain in TV for another season and try to return to the game in 2011. Cowher's top two choices of Carolina and Tampa Bay appear to be standing pat. But a vacancy in Dallas could certainly prompt Cowher to throw his Stetson in the ring."

    • 5 straight completions in the 4th quarter to get into the red zone and then score a stand up rushing TD and celly in one of the best defenses faces to bring the score within 1 possession against the super bowl champs is "stunned" to you?
    • yes, if you read what I said - that was due to his record breaking 245 yard 4th quarter performance in garbage time when the Seahawks were already celebrating. If Bryce puts up big numbers in the 4th quarter, people like you are quick to call it garbage time stats but seem to get selective when other QB's do it because it doesn't fit your narrative.  also, I'm logical enough to admit that Drake is a great QB and his performance had a lot to do with his protection, play calling, and other aspects. The game does not fall completely on the QB. Just like how the Panthers were still in the game vs Seattle until Horn's penalty changed that. It is a team sport, so many factors, players, refs, coaches are involved and it only takes one thing to change the game. the obsession with Bryce is just nauseating at this point and if you pay attention on here, it's the same 10 users quoting and pieing each other. it's super weird and everywhere else you go, opinions on Bryce are trending upwards. the way the season ended, the vibe at the stadium, the performance, should have everyone excited about this next season. Idk, maybe I just look at life and my entertainment outlets differently than others.
    • Are we sure something hasnt happened to him because that seems pretty shitty to simply abandon this place
