Fox's Worst vs Best

John Fox's record is 71-57. Good enough in the NFL for a .555 win percentage. We all know how good Fox can be:

No Team ever quit on him

when healthy- he can take a team deep into the playoffs

Fox's motto- Protect the football and grind it out to have a chance to win in the 4th

But how often does that work? What about the times Fox doesn't have a chance to win it in the 4th? When his motto doesnt play out well- just how BAD is Fox's Worst??

Heres the list of games that Fox's Panthers over the years have lost by More that 14 points.

10/20/02 at Atlanta L 0-30

11/24/02 ATLANTA L 0-41

12/15/02 at Pittsburgh L 14-30

01/06/02 NEW ENGLAND L 6-38

10/19/03 TENNESSEE L 17-37

10/03/04 ATLANTA L 10-27

10/17/04 at Philadelphia L 8-30

10/24/04 SAN DIEGO L 6-17

09/10/06 ATLANTA L 6-20

10/29/06 DALLAS L 14-35

12/17/06 PITTSBURGH L 3-37

01/22/06 at Seattle (NFC Championship Game) L 14-34

10/28/07 INDIANAPOLIS L 7-31

11/25/07 NEW ORLEANS L 6-31

12/09/07 at Jacksonville L 6-37

10/12/08 at Tampa Bay L 3-27

11/23/08 at Atlanta L 28-45

01/10/09 ARIZONA (NFC Divisional Playoffs) L 13-33

09/13/09 PHILADELPHIA L 10-38

19 losses total. Out of the 57- thats .333%

so just about 1/3 of every loss is a Bashing under Fox, some are massacres.. a game where winning or losing in the 4th Qtr is not an option- Losing is a given!

So, 109-19 is his record for applying his philosiphy. That equals a 85% chance of it working. I'm not sure what you were trying to prove, if anything, but to me thats a really good % over a 8 year span.

im in the party of "Screw Cowher & Bring Fox Back".. i just put it in the light of the Fox haters so more would read/coment..

so continue....

17 out of 57 losses by more than 14 points = 0.298. Fewer than 3 of every 10 losses are by more than 14 points. Or 13% of all games.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
