Lockout seems inevitable...what will you do

So how can it get fixed.... I mean thats the only thing that has to happen, and if it dont....?

The two big things owners want are a rookie cap and the players to take a 15-20 percent cut. ( If it happens I say the cut being around 10-15 percent would be enough for owners.)

If it doesn't happen, then lockout by the owners..

I would not shed too many tears for NFL teams. The NFL is billion $$ business with revenues and revenue sources, and accounting practices, that aren't known to people like us. If there are teams that can't stay afloat, let them fold.

If there is a strike, and if the Panthers expect me to pay $4K to them to sit in their bank drawing interesting, they can forget it. I'll turn the seats in and someone else can pay for them and if and when they come back, if I have nothing better to do, I'll watch them on TV. If they don't come back, I'll watch college football and be happy.

The owners asking the players to give back 18-20% (and yes, that is the amount) of their salaries is ridiculous.

For the life of me, I don't understand why the NFL doesn't protect it's players by putting weight restrictions ifor all positions which would do wonders for all the blown knees, ankles, not to mention their endocrine and heart system aftwards. Not to mention forcing the owners back to a 60 man roster. It seems to me, if I were a player, those would be things I would be negiotating, as that would increase my longevity on the field and promote my health when I retire. Do we really need 400 lb linemen? Is 300 lbs, not enough? ...and even that will kill a human being.

In this economy, to see rich owners and somewhat rich players to mega-rich players, no matter the reason for the strike , is not going to garner a lot of sympathy in an economy with 10-12% unemployment. Talk about killing a golden goose.

I don't know the intricate details of the current CBA, but based on my study of contract law, failure to reach agreement on a new CBA before March DOES NOT mean that a lockout HAS to happen. That may be what the current CBA says, but both parties can agree to modify the agreement.

This is all a freakin' ploy by both sides.

Ok, lets break it down like this. 6 billion in revenue divided by 32 teams = 187.5 million per team. Player salaries at a minimum is 112 million. 75.5 million left over for stadium cost, coaching, and other team salaries. When speaking of other team salaries, you're usually talking about 100's of people that work behind the scenes.

All that equals a major business coming out with Record breaking profits of around 1 billion dollars spread throughout 32 teams. Comes out to around 32 million per team, with most of that or over 200 million of it being from the top 2 teams profit wise.

While players last year earned a record breaking 3.9 billion dollars or 4.5 million per player on average. If you want to talk percentages then 14 percent of a team's profit for the year. Asking a player to make 3.6 million a year instead of 4.5 million is ridiculous???????

When that paycut will save 1000 of regular peoples jobs in cities like Jacksonville or detroit??????

Last time I saw, those owners weren't exactly poor people.

...and not all stadiums are paid for by owners, many are paid for by taxes.

I would say to you it's not simple as your math, and when the NFL opens their books in full and disclose all undisclosed areas of revenue, then, and only then, could it fairly be said, how much they make, how many tax breaks and other perks are given to them.

I never said the owners were poor, but your not going to run a business if your not making the necessary money to do so. No it's not as simple as the math I put in above, there's other things involved. Tax breaks and such as you mentioned, but that still doesn't eliminate the fact that if something isn't done to turn around the teams that are indeed losing money or in debt. Then there are going to be even more jobless people. The easiest way to fix that is to have players take an average pay cut of 900k a year. The numbers I got were from Forbes for the team's and profits. The other numbers are directly from the NFL and the CBA.

There are a few teams that have stadiums built using team money and PSL's. NYJ/NYG, Carolina, Dallas, and Houston. Most of the team's building new stadiums are adopting PSL's to take the burden off of tax payers.

would you take a 20% paycut so your boss could keep making the same amount of money?

If it meant keeping a job at this point, also I don't make 4.5 million dollars a year and if I did. I sure in the heck would if it meant 1000's of other people keeping their jobs. It's also not really taking a pay cut so your boss can make the same amount. It's taking a pay cut when you already make more money then 90 percent of the population so you still have a job/other people still have a job that aren't as fortunate as you. If making 3.6 is bad then sign me up.
