Sad News about a Fellow Huddler

wow.

When I 1st opened this page i thought it was gonna be a joke.. Something along the lines that was like electro bet saintJ or BDiG that he would ban himself from this site of the Saints won...but I didn't expect to read that a fellow huddler died. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Although i never met the guy I know we posted in many of the same forums and he made some funny comments that made me laugh..

If there is a silver lining at all in this situation its that Ive realized the strong brotherhood among the people on the huddle wither it be from meeting at a tailgate or just exchanging jabs or sharing similar views over the forums, it makes me appreciate this site and the people on it even more...

But here is an Idea i propose and if its already been said then my bad i must have overlooked it.. But I would to see a Mod Or Admin start up a pay-pal account so us huddles can make a donation and get a flower arrangement sent up on the behalf of us who woundt be able to attend the service... I think an arrangement of black, blue and white flowers from us at the huddle would be something we could do to show our respects..

My God...this is terrible; like JR said, it's funny how you can never meet a guy in person and still feel you know him. And I really think we all got to know Clifton, in some way, even if only through the stuff he posted on the Huddle--like someone else said it just shows what kind of community we have here.

RIP man.

i like that idea- with me being in alaska its hard for me to do anything, but i would love to help with something like that...

Me too...unemployment be damned. I may drive down for the funeral depending on what day it is and what the weather has in store for the area between me and NC.

Just had me a shot of Barrel #1 Jack Daniels for my friend, Clifton...

Shinner, sorry to hear about your son's friend. Truly a sad day.

My relationship with Electro was the same as it is with most folks on here, internet only. A few have met me in person, but most haven't. He and I had posted back and forth here, agreed on some things, disagreed on others.

Still, as someone else said, there are real people behind the screen names, avatars and signatures here. And who knows what their individual situations are? Someone on here might be riding high with joy or they could be down in the depths of sadness. Unless you know them beyond this format, it's hard to tell. Regardless, it's worth keeping in mind when you talk to them that they are real people, and they deserve to be treated with respect.

In the end, a person with whom I communicated but whom I never met has died. Despite that lack of a personal meeting, I grieve for him and will pray for his family and friends.

I will run it by the Admins.

damn Shinner...that sucks...sorry to hear it

Thanks guys....this is the 2nd friend of his to be killed in a vehicle accident in the past year. Both came from the same high school. That school seems to have some aura of death around it. They had a couple kids die the previous year and also a teacher died while chaperoning a class trip to Ireland/England/Scotland.

Should raise the driving age to 18, or at least not allow them to drive under certain weather conditions. Hope your son is doing OK.

Guessing he was 17 or 18 as they're Seniors....I'm thinking it was definitely more of a lack of experience in this sort of weather kinda thing.

Son seems to be ok....he did say he was tired of all his friends dying. Been in his room playing his guitar and playing Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" (nothing new, he's been on a PF jag for weeks now).

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
