defensive end position idea...

just a mere position change idea... when Ron Meeks ran his defense in Indy, he had Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis man the defensive end positions... and no one will change my position on the fact that Meeks had a strong hand in picking Everette Brown in last years draft... which leads me to believe that Meeks is going to be looking for another edge rusher like Brown in this years draft to complete his defensive scheme. i believe that Fox gave Meeks a package to run plays from last season but i have the strong belief that Fox will give Meeks full range this season and it'll be the exact same style of defense that he had in Indy. which would explain why nothing has been done about Peppers... because Meeks already has an idea as to what he wants to do with the defense.

again, this is just my own thoughts on what might happen at the defensive end position this off season.

i believe that john fox is actually a teenage mutant ninja turtle in disguise with one of those rubber masks on, which allows them to walk around undected amongst the public. chances are high that master splinter will tighten the reigns on his teachings this year.

Am I the only one who still thinks that Hilee Taylor could be a good situational edge rusher?

And I've been saying it for a couple years and it hasn't happened, but I think Charles Johnson can do some great things if given a starting role.

Brayton and Brown for this season.

Get a DE in the 4th if necessary.

I think Johnson and Brown and do great things in Meeks system.

I like our rotation at DE even without Peppers. I would start Brayton and Johnson as they're both very good against the run with Taylor and Brown as rush specialists until they prove their worth against the run.

I still think we would need a 5th guy for depth.

I still think we will take a bigger DE..someone like a Corey Wooton or Austen lane or Dunlap if he falls.

Just thought of this reading this thread (and I apoligise for bringing it up) but one reason the Panthers are thinking about letting Peppers walk could be the new poteniel rule change that would ban the 3-point stance. I know everyone has this grand idea that Peppers could be a beast if he came off the line standing up but the reality is that if all players had to start from a 2-point stance, the shorter / stockier players would have the advantage, offensive or defensive.

If that rule would be put into effect it would almost completely change the makeup, or at the very least the way GM's and coaches would try to make up, their teams. Both offensive and defensive linemen would be most desireable if they were in the 6' to 6'2" range.
