How about instead of blaming the 'system' or the NFL...why don't you teach the idiots that do stupid things to NOT DO THEM. Do this, and you don't have to complain about the severity of their sentences.

Oh, and what a great pick up for the Ravens...;)

My whole issue in all of this has nothing to do with football or whether or not a it was an accident or not. It lies simply in the truth that Stallworth killed a man and did no time but a dog fighting participant does 2 years.

Not in who plays at what positon or becuase of a race but that this country is saying to the world that a human life is basically worth a monetary amount. I agree the family should have gotten every bit of that money but he should have still done some amount of time.

That is manslaghter ladies and gentlemen its not opps I hit a dog or hit another car and totaled it. You killed someone because you couldn't call a cab (its not like these dumb a$$es can't afford it). I'm not saying he should get life or anything but the man should be in prision for the better part of a decade. This just goes to show you that all that matters in this world is how deep your pockets are.

People like their pets more than other people.

As they should.

Most of the time, that mischievous misbehaving little creature that licks it's butt all day will defend your life to the death, without flinching, at the first sign of danger. Your dog will still do this even if you wouldn't for it. This is long and I mean LONG before any random human being would do the same.

Unfortunately, as Vick proved their obedience is also their weakness, but only when exploited. For THAT reason, Vick is complete scum and I'd spit on him if I saw him.

Vick is a scumbag. Stallworth is a scumbag. They're both scumbags, along with tons and tons of other rich people who get light sentences for horrible crimes. It's just the way this (corrupt) justice system is. The rich literally pay off their punishment, while the not so wealthy serve long and hard time.(the way it should be for both.)

I like how everyone focuses on these guys though and completely ignores Ray Lewis murdering a guy and getting off free.

thats the most un intelligent ignorant comment ive heard all week... Can your dog defend you from a car driven by a drunk driver? 24 days in jail for man slaughter, burress shot HIMSELF in the leg and is in jail for 3 years, Vick killed ANIMALS and is an outcast even after serving time... Wow its fuinny how people dont get shuned for aborting babies.

Stallworth killed a human being, but it was not a pre-meditated act, it was an accident. If Stallworth's blood alchohol content was within legal limits he wouldn't have even been charged. By all accounts, the guy literally jumped out infront of his car.

Vick's crimes were totally willful and pre-meditated, this is why Vick's punishment was more severe... it was no accident.

I believe both these men deserve a second chance and I'm glad to see they are getting it. Think what you want, but OUR legal system assessed a penalty for each of these crimes and these guys paid that penalty, so now they should have the right to resume their lives.

From a football standpoint, I like Stallworth's speed but he's a one-trick pony in that regard... would like to find a more complete receiver.

It's actually one of this thread's better comments, and I believe you missed its point.

It's not about what a dog can do to protect you, it's what it will do. And we've already established that the difference in the Stallworth and Vick cases is one of intent. That goes a long way in a court's decision, you know.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
