Bryce Young Week 15 QB School

Outside of that we looked a decent amount better on offense solely in the mistakes department. Next to no OL penalties, the line didn’t give up an absurd amount of pressure, and dare I say the routes run were great along with most but not all of the calls. Byrce had some balls with life others that looked like flailing ducks. I’ll excuse him somewhat because of the weather but I will say if he’s going to throw off his toes he’s got to work on generating more power from his base on some of the throws to be more consistent whether he’s being pressure or not.

There were definitely things to like. Then again there was still much of the same considering we never made it to the end zone and squandered many drives until the end. Folks talking up the Falcons defense are coping. They are a mediocre team at best in one of the worst divisions in the league. We need to carry this momentum into the matchup with the Packers. If we take another step back after this win the huddle will meltdown.

Yet another thread oozing with opportunity to get some positivity surrounding the current starting QB and yet not many want to speak on anything, good or bad. Weird that the toxic mod who hates Bryce’s guts never holds a convo in threads like this.

Buddy I just want to say that calling that Prevent was sarcasm -- apparently you didn't see the game thread

I would say folks downplaying multiple improved performances are coping. "Coping" is defined as "dealing effectively with something difficult." Being happy about a win is not, by definition, "coping," nor is saying a defense ranked top-10 isn't bad is "coping."

It was prevent/contain, referring to the pass rush, and it's still right there on the film. Y'all just keep misrepresenting what was said though, so don't let that stop you.

And what 'multiple improved performances' are you referring to exactly? There were some good things this week but he was abysmal the prior couple.

The Carolina Panthers haven't been in the end zone since November 19th. And that was a meaningless score in a blowout loss.

Your definition of improvement varies from other people clearly.

As does your definition of coping.

Ugly wins are better than the mythical "pretty losses."

What you've presented does fit the definition.

The last time we "won ugly" we proceeded to hit rock bottom. We'll see if this group can clean things up and finish with two more wins. I do not see that as being a tall order at all. Neither the Packers or the Bucs are particularly impressive. Ending the season on a high note would be a breath of fresh air. We'll see.

I think it's a pretty tall order to expect any win with what's the worst team in the league operating under the worst owner in North American professional sports. I didn't expect another win after October, and I'm going to enjoy this one. I fully expect another significant step back this weekend, but who knows.

Having covered that, let's extrapolate "coping" once again:

Being happy about a win and giving credit to players who did well, once again, by definition, is not "coping" -- however, twisting one's words ("multiple improved performances" was referring to improved performances from multiple players) so one can shift the goalposts to a more familiar slant (no touchdowns since Nov. 19 I guess negates anyone I don't like having a good game) is, in fact coping -- because it's your method of coming to grips with a fact (one or more players whom you don't like did well) that contrasts with your preferred stance (people you don't like shouldn't be given credit).

"Coping" in my case, would be saying "well, we won in spite of the left tackle again," because I'm not the biggest fan of Ickey. However, he was one of the guys who improved. So he, like Young and Mingo, deserve credit for that.

    • I feel like anyone within the Panthers fanbase no matter where they land on Bryce should agree on this. He's a good kid. He's intelligent. But ultimately is he going to ever be the guy to command a locker room? Obviously none of us can say. But I just don't get any alpha vibes from him whatsoever. Is that a dealbreaker? Not necessarily. Here's the thing though. We had the talk of his generational years ahead of his age leadership trait clubbed over our heads for weeks nonstop before the draft. But after seeing someone like Sam Darnold navigate life as a starting QB I think anyone here should be able to acknowledge homerism there are some similarities to Darnold in terms of personality. That is not what we were sold. All of this takes me back to before the draft. I just can't shake the sense that Stroud just rubbed Tepper or someone the wrong way. Was he too confident? Not subservient enough? Did they feel Bryce was more marketable and media savvy? My gut says these things weighed more into the pick than they should have. If not. Stroud more than likely would have been the selection. What's done is done though. I'm just like you though. I want to see some fire from Bryce at some point this season. But I'm expecting to be disappointed considering his first order of business following one of the worst rookie seasons ever was to detach completely and do nothing. As always. Hoping for the best. I feel like I have to put a disclaimer at the end of this post for the Bryce superfans. I want to see him do well. I don't want this to end in the worst case scenario. There now we can be friends!
    • I felt the Cam vibes on the huddle with Bryce, in fact its almost there. Threads that have no mention of young, turn in them.  Only deal is Cam had tons more supporters/nut huggers.  I honestly hated talking Cam with 90% of the huddle, in many eyes he was perfectly accurate with all his throws and if he had a legit great game the true haters were missing in action.   Cam board is now a Bryce board...
