Marty Hurney sucks.  But the saddest part is, we could literally upgrade by re-hiring him as GM and Ron Rivera as HC lmao.  How far we have fallen.

we could bring back Ron, Marty and Cam Newton all for 1 season....and win more games than we did this year.   And that's just Cam playing straight read option with Chubba and never passing.

I mean, it is pretty useless to talk to me and present an argument that Scott Fitterer should remain employed in Carolina.  I don't disagree with that.   Because it's silly, really.

So again, what really good GM.....would want to take a job where the really bad GM remains and is retaining a bulk of what is his job? I've yet to here the argument on that.  I have heard how sweet Scott Fitterer is though.

The only thing I've ever truly seen you argue for is the idea that you know things. Unfortunately, that argument falls apart when you actually talk about them 😄

Now, do you want to actually look at any of the candidates mentioned here or just continue your usual MO of useless b-tching?

So....you have no argument.  Gotcha.  You could of just said that.  It's less words.

I knew Miles Sanders was a bad add and not as billed.  I talked about that a lot.

I knew the WR corps Scott put together wasn't good enough.  I talked about that a lot.

I knew the parts we put together didn't fit. I talked about that a lot.

I knew Bryce was going to play small ball all year, slow WRs and opposing defense would eat it up and sit on our pass game. I talked about that a lot.

I knew Scott Fitterer was a bad GM and wanted him gone a year ago.  I talked about that a lot.

Of course, I talked about all that before week 1 ever kicked off.

Maybe I'm just a lucky guesser.  Which could be true.

Is being well liked in arguably the worst front office in football something that should be valued?

As mentioned, there's way more to the GM job than just personnel and scouting.

What Casillas suggested could happen would do two things...

1) Remove Fitterer from all personnel decisions

2) Free up a new GM to concentrate on personnel without having to worry about the other stuff

That doesn't necessarily sound like a bad idea to me, but you still have to deal with Fitterer being involved in the chicanery that helped get Frank Reich fired.

That, to me, is the tricky part.

The article doesn't mention Borgonzi but does talk about Brandt Tilis, and it's worth noting that he interviewed with us the last time.

Mind you, the emphasis for this article is mostly on underrated candidates, the people who aren't getting talked about as much.

Borgonzi apparently interviewed twice with us so they saw something they liked but Tilis would be interesting too. I know there isn’t appeal for the Panthers spot if it were to be open but I’m hoping we find someone like Brandon Beane who is great just not known at the moment.

I worry about a retread GM however…

Or you're a guy who takes credit for stuff other people say, while also reframing arguments of those you debate so that they appear to say what they actually didn't, which I've seen some evidence of.

Of course, the next part of your MO is to accuse people of things what you actually do, which I'm guessing probably comes next.

Borgonzi interviewed? I don't remember seeing that.

I know Tilis did but I thought it was only once.

Wasn't there previously a sticky post where the mods said they were going to crack down on people sh-tting up threads rather than sticking to the actual topic?

Has that emphasis gone by the wayside now?

Noted.  OP was off to a good start about finding a new GM.  Then folks started sh-tting it up by talking about how actually Scott Fitterer should actually just retain most of his duties as GM.  Which really derails the whole new GM talk.

The idea was never that Fitterer would stay as a GM co-GM. It was that he'd take an alternate position away from the personnel duties.

The fact that you couldn't comprehend that is where the issues started.

Apparently, Fitterer's name makes you emotional 😄

    • Fees nowadays are ridiculous. After purchasing concert tickets for my son’s 18th birthday and paying the rest of our HHI trip with 3 other families, I’m shocked at how much they are. Honestly, it’s grand theft. Some is taxes but in a world where everything is electronic, fees should be cheaper. Electrons don’t cost 10-30% of the event.
    • Nope, that’s not the disconnect. In 2022, our GM knew he was going QB in the 2023 draft. You are talking about risking fans involvement on a team that’s been basically bottom 3 in the NFL from 2018 to now. There is no risk when you are that bad. We were right to want Fitterer to tank in 2022 and get rid of anyone who could bring us big value and extra cap room for future years when we aren’t winning 2-7 wins a year. We knew we wanted a rookie QB so we didn’t trade assets for picks and get a better draft slot so we ended up only getting a 2nd for Burns and threw in DJ Moore plus an early 2nd instead of a 1st, which basically lost us an early 2nd. The “risk” to our franchise’s losing culture ended up being around 4 1sts of total value. Yep, I refuse to listen to the other perspective that lost us around 4 1sts of value. At least our fan involvement is so high that our stadium isn’t chock full of visiting fans since we’ve won so much since 2022. Again, you won’t change my mind that we should have tanked in 2022 and had another 2-4 Browns/Horns on this team.
