DeAngleo Williams thinks Jake should remain starter

THE ONLY reason he is saying it is b/c Fox has no intention of giving Moore a shot at the job. The Panthers are just getting guys to sing the company line......this franchise is all about getting guys to so that type garbage. Carolina players quickly learn it pays off to be company men in Carolina.....DeAngelo is just being sent out to be the voice of "reason".

I thought Moore had maybe a 3% chance of being the starter....this confirms week 1 he has 0% chance.

I think I missed the part where DeAngelo said he thinks Jake should remain the starter.

didn't miss it.....Fox said it enough times last year that Jake was not benched and would have still be throwing picks if not for the injury. Panthers just aren't saying anything right now b/c the media and people w/ eyes and a brain know Jake is done.......they already know Jake is the starting QB and Moore is the backup heading in.

The nature of the business is they want you out because they think the guy behind you can do a better job. He just had a bad half season.’’

This right here leads me to believe that D.Will actually wants Delhomme to start.

This does not surprise me though. Open competition at QB my ass...

lmao at people getting their panties in a bunch. the reporters were probably really pressing the issue of the quarterback situation onto him and he gave them a very politically correct comment on it. he didn't diss Jake or Matt, he simply stated the same thing I'd expect any team to say about another player on their team.

Signed

-Someone who wants DWill to retire a Panther.

if DeAngelo wasn't asked to sell the company line.....then the typical answer would be " it ain't my job to decide who starts and will support whoever my QB is"......even Smitty says that and he actually friends with Jake.

DWill, some guy named Smith wants a private moment with you.

Maybe DWill is thinking, "gee if Jake starts, good chance Stew and I will rush for 1400 yards a piece next year".

I think he was way to "over the top" in praise for Jake, to the point it was a shot at Moore. Moore played very well and the team won games. Jake lost games for the team last year. Frankly if I'm Moore; I might start thinking "I hope I don't get tagged" and start planning my exit for charlotte.

I'm really happy Moore isn't that emotionally unstable. These guys are football players not high school cheerleaders.

^This

This wasn't a regular endorsement. This seemed like he was defending a starter. Same crap Gross spewed earlier this season.

    • It will be really interesting to see how both sides handle this. I'm sure the team would love to get him signed to a 4 year deal based on his output so far and some potential factored in, i.e. something like a 4 year $30 million contract.  But I could see his agent telling him the best path is to take the one year offer, put up a big year next year and then really cash in. The team also has to keep in mind T-Mac's 2nd contract, which likely will happen after the 2027 season assuming he keeps improving as expected.  Even if we could get him on a budget 4 year deal for what he could become, the problem then becomes when he wants to re-negotiate in 2 years during the same summer we will extend T-Mac, and you don't want to spend that much on WRs in one offseason, just see the Bengals this last year. Taking everything into consideration, I'm thinking the 1 year deal and then getting him to sign a 4-5 year deal after hopefully say a 800ish yard season next year might be best for our cap situation and separate his and T-Mac's negotiation periods.
    • And yet jax made it no further than we did, and its very possible the Pats don't either. I think it speaks more to the overall down year for the nfl as far as having great/dominant teams, every team this year has fatal flaws that can be exploited
    • Ehhh I agree the nfc is stronger this year but their really werent any truly dominant teams this year everyone is flawed, I think the narrative for the NFL this year will to try ahd force a Josh Allen SB win
