ESPN's NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas speculates that Jake Delhomme may not even make the Panthers' final roster.

Yasinskas, an ex-Panthers beat writer, doesn't believe Carolina is done addressing the quarterback position this offseason, which could leave Delhomme's roster spot in jeopardy. The Panthers are expected to add at least one more QB, possibly a mid-round rookie. Still, it's hard to picture the team cutting ties with Delhomme even if he loses the quarterback competition.

If they cut Delhomme, they still have to pay him, so it really doesn't make any sense to me. Besides that, he at least gives you an experienced back up. Do we really want some rookie, most likely from a spread offense, backing up Matt Moore?

Um...why?

Why would you cut someone that would still be making millions in salary from you?

Unless we're drafting a QB...it ain't happening...and even if THAT happens, why the heck would you not have him on the sidelines helping out. Warner was content letting Leinart get his shot.

    • You are too harsh. Owners tell GMs what to do all the time. It doesn’t make someone “unfit”.  A man unfit for that job could not have had that 2025 draft.  And I am not trying to be belligerent I certainly don’t feel belligerent,  just trying to use some common sense. Tepper is the last guy that wants to give up on Young. The coach had WRs throwing fits on field and sidelines in view of everyone. He had to do it, but needed permission. I just can’t buy Tepper instigating that. Sorry.
    • You guys are just going to have to accept the fact that Dan Morgan is a mid GM best case scenario currently. I used to have people get very belligerent over defending Scott Fitterer too. And that's not hyperbole. People used to go to bat for that guy like he was blood related. We have a truckload invested in the OL and what do we have to show for it? The whole unit is already banged up including one of our big signings. Even without all that the group has largely taken a step back from last year in pass protection. Then you get to the QB room and there's only two conclusions you can make about Dan Morgan. Either he deliberately ignored it two years in a row on his own accord or he took orders from Tepper to do so. Either scenario says he's not fit to be an NFL GM.
    • Frank, ceding control of the defense in no way verifies that Tepper told Canales to bench Young.    It certainly buttresses the idea that Canales would need permission to bench him but that is as far as you can take it.    After that it is pure speculation and it doesn’t make sense.
