Panthers interested in Marques Douglas

They said he could be a DE in a 3-4. He is the kind of run stuffing DE that can slide inside on passing downs....much like Brayton did.

Everyone wants the big splash Free Agent signing. Fact it, we have sucked when we went that route in the past. We were more successful filling holes with moderately priced mid-tier FA's.

I know what the article said, but I don't see how we could play him on the edge, EVER. DEs in a 3-4 are DTs in a 4-3 almost always.

You're right about the strategy, but I was hoping we would make a bigger effort to bring in some depth on defense and a couple solid WRs.

I 100% agree on the WR front. There were a couple of guys that were interesting....Boldin, Walter, Bryant.

I think we should have made a play on Bolding. I heard Walter really wanted to stay in Houston. Bryant is a little old and is wanting big money.

The draft is deep at WR...that is where I think we get our depth.

Does everyone realise Brayton is 30 and will be 31 before the end of the 2010 season? He's around 2 1/2 years younger than Douglas and with not much more pedigree.

Of course I would like us to retain Brayton, but if he wants a 3-4 year deal, whereas Douglas wants a one year vet minimum deal then its a no brainer.

I like how Gantt says the Panthers aren't going to be idle.....and then follows it up by saying they expressed interest but have done absolutely nothing in regards to this DE who doesn't fit our scheme.

This is starting too be Bullshit. Richardson is keepig money in his pocket but still sending out bills for PSL. So he not willing too pay for the season but we still have too pay him. This would be a suckass signing a waste of money this guy isn't young and he isn't good. "A better fit for the 3-4" don't we play a 4-3?

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
