We might as well start making predictions for next season

We're not going to sign anyone. We're not going to trade for anyone. We don't have a first-round pick, so we're not going to have a rookie step in and start right away. Here's our current projected starting lineup going off of last year's depth chart and assuming we're not going to find a new starter in free agency or the draft:

QB Matt Moore

RB DeAngelo Williams

FB Tyrell Sutton

WR Steve Smith

WR Dwayne Jarrett

LT Jordan Gross

LG Travelle Wharton

C Ryan Kalil

RG Mackenzy Bernadeau

RT Jeff Otah

TE Dante Rosario

DE Charles Johnson

DT Tank Tyler

DT Louis Leonard

DE Everette Brown

OLB Thomas Davis

MLB Jon Beason

OLB Dan Connor

SS Chris Harris (if he doesn't get cut for speaking his mind on Twitter all day)

FS Charles Godfrey

CB Chris Gamble

CB Richard Marshall

K John Kasay

P Jason Baker

LS JJ Jansen

KR Another training camp battle

PR Another training camp battle

Based off that lineup, I don't see us winning more than five games next season IF MOORE PLAYS LIGHTS OUT. And if he doesn't perform like a lot of us are hoping and expecting? Let's not even go there.

And before anybody asks, my negativity today that followed my positivity came off the Hoover release which was pretty trashy on the part of the Panthers FO. You can check the tweets of Chris Harris and Rhys Lloyd today, they're extremely pissed and neither one of them were offensive players. I think the FO overreached today by cutting Hoover and that's going to bite them in the ass next season with players not wanting to be there in a rebuilding mode, players like 89 especially. I can totally see the '10 Panthers being the next '09 Bucs.

lolwut? The defensive line took a hit but the offense takes a huge step forward with Moore for the entire season. We won 8 games in a season in which Jake Delhomme started 11 games. Think about that.

So? We were a losing team that won meaningless games late to finish 8-8 and we've only subtracted players. How can you possibly think we're taking a step forward for next season?

Now all of money-grubbing moves by Little Cat may help in the long run, but it sure won't for next season. No receivers, nobody to block for Double Trouble, no return guys, Connor penciled in as a starter as poorly as he played last season....it's not looking good right now.

All the players with the exception of Peppers can be replaced fairly easily.

Several of the games we lost were due to incredible meltdowns or mistakes by Jake.

Oh and theres the whole offseason isnt even halfway over thing.

Actually, the team above does not look that bad. Peppers being gone will be missed part of the time and the second year fullback will most likely take over for Hoover. Anderson will give Conner a run for his money. Dwayne Jarrett is the weakest spot on your lineup.

This chicken little crap is getting on my nerves. Can we at least wait till pre season to start? Sam Mills Fan says no rookies are gonna make a impact. We have a pretty good track record of mid and late round guys producing. That is a big reason why guys are being moved. Then you say if Matt Moore plays lights out you are predicting 5 wins. He has a win loss already of 5-3 starting. So i like his chances of a winning season. Also don't we have a easier schedule. 10-6 chicken little's.

    • Yeah this needs to happen ASAP. I don’t care if the price is lower. These Vikings fans on Twitter are absolutely insufferable. Acting like they have been world beaters for the last 60 years and thinking Carolina should just hand him over for nothing. We’ve had 7 or so tough seasons in a row and we have still been to two superbowls since they have and won more playoff games since 1995.    I hope Dan sends him to Detroit for a 2040 7th rounder and eats half the contract. Even Sheena is replying to them.
    • I hope your cath went well
    • So did the Panthers initiate this by making him "available for the right price" or was this something Thielen himself pushed for? I also never saw this quote he made about JJ McCarthy back in June. https://sports.yahoo.com/article/panthers-adam-thielen-both-asked-182711572.html Thielen believes McCarthy is built for big moments and will eventually show the world the skillset that won the Michigan Wolverines a national championship in 2023/2024. He even said McCarthy could be the “face of the league.” “I have high expectations for him. I've been able to be around a little bit through some of the time last summer... back in Minnesota, and I think he has the ability to be one of the great quarterbacks this season and the face of this league at some point. You know, I think he's got every tool and intangible that you can have,” Thielen said. “Obviously, it's a difficult league and it's not gonna just be easy, but I think he has the ability to handle adversity to be able to be big in big moments, as you saw when he was in college. I think he's got a great support staff around him, whether it be the coaches or the trainers.” Sounds like he's had one foot out the door for some time now.
