We might as well start making predictions for next season

Unlike them, our aging vets are not our best players.

What did we hear every time the Bucs were mentioned anywhere? How much they missed the leadership of those guys that had been cut. I fear that's going to happen with Hoover and if we get into any additional cuts.

I know NFL Network thinks we are f@%@! for 2010..8-8 would get Coach of the Year honors in their eyes(Lombardi actually said this)..but honestly these guys never know what the heck our FO is doing anyway..and it appears we don't anymore either...Damion Lewis was the backbone of this team!!! :cryin:

But yet our receiving corps, which was god-awful last year, has actually been DOWNGRADED so far with the loss of a starter and no new acquisitions.

If you really think Matt Moore is going to have much success with Dwayne Jarrett as his #2, you're crazy.

I dont care if the Panthers had Steve Smith, Larry Fitgerald, and Randy Moss on the roster.... Jake was so awfull it wouldnt have made a difference who was playing WR. So yeah I do think any avg QB play would have made a difference last season and going into next. The offense is pretty much coming back in tact and I dont think Jarrett is that bad.

All the doom and gloom on this board is making me feel even more that next season will be a good one :-) Because whenever the fan base and outside people are pumped up for a season the team sucks. So with all the negativey out there the team will end up being better than thought. I am looking forward to seeing how next season turns out and think the team will be better than everyone thinks.

It only looks like a fire sale to them, because they're not really sure who we are and what we do.

SMF I agree with you. I don't know what games some of you were looking at but you are putting alot of faith in player who have done nothing.

1st Tony f never showed that he could handle Hoover's Job I don't see why you cut him before knowing if he could beat Hoover out. . This seem like a cutting Keyshawn and hoping Jarret could take his place. How did that work out?

2nd Cutting Diggs who was good in coverage and pretty good at rushing the passer for Connor who can't cover a lick and has NO pass rushing skills. Before you bring up James A let's remeber he has been here for a while and still never beat out Diggs. So now we are just handing them a Job.

3rd Everybody talks about this young talent on the Dline. Lets see

CJ regress IMO he didn't live up to expectation. He had a better year the year before. EB has never started still might not be big enough too stop the run. Lets no forget we only have 1 back up in Heilee Taylor and what did he do last year? Nothing!!! Don't strain yourself looking he did nothing. Unless a DE fall out the sky they have too not only step up but also try to do some of Pep production as well. But I won't freak out about this untill June 1st cutts and they might get a few vets their.

4th I don't mind cutting Kemo but Lewis is a problem for me. Now we are depending on a guy who got hurt in his 1st or 2nd game with us. A rookie who never saw the field. Another guy who got hurt and might be a bust and a dude with off the field issues and has been cut from a few teams. The whole Dline doesn't look good right now no matter what you say and it can't be Fixed in this draft. With the limited picks we have we should be doing a little more patch work in FA.

5th I like Matt Moore and think he makes a major differance for our team but we need too get him more weapons in the passing game for him too really make a big leap. We can not go another season with Smith being our only real threat. Their is no reason we couldn't have looked into getting Boldin or Bryant. That is a instant upgrade drafting another rookie is not. The FO really could have given Matt more weapons too help him.

Lets be real people right now this team is not better then it was at the end of the season. It's worst as of now.

We have no Pass rush no run stopping no 2nd Wr or depht at the position No real vet leadership and no great Picks in the draft. This FO needs too get on their grind and soon.

Dude get REAL!! He looked good in 1 game against the Saints BACK-UPS. You base your hole reasoning on one game against a bunch of back-ups. Now he is good enough too be our 2nd WR??????

Do they start playing next weekend?? Before you say we are worse off, let's see what happens during the off season and training camp.

Please take your hand off the panic button!

Again I said as of right NOW we are worst. Their are still June 1st cuts and we may can patch up depht problem in the draft. But they do need to get too work. No matter what they do in the draft they have too bring some FA in. As of right now they are making more holes then they are patching up this is a fact.

I never said Jarret was good enough to be a #2. I just said he is no that bad. I am also not making that judgement on just that one game against NO. I also dont think Moose will be putting that much fear into opposing teams next season. The main points of our discussion has been your comment that our WR core has been DOWNGRADED. Its pretty much the same group and plenty of time to upgrade. And back to my original point when you have pretty much the same wr core and eliminate the loses by Jake alone this team should have that many more wins alone. The key of course from my perspective will be the defense and how the handle a whole new D-line

Is that $1 million benchmark REALLY that important? Didn't Peppers make over 16 times that much last season?

More of a combination of age and money. I'd assume if he didn't have the bonus due they might have kept him, but I doubt it. It's mainly because of age, but the money he was owed because he was a 10 year vet didn't help.

Um, I don't know, Brad Hoover? You know, the subject of the thread and the guy whose release caused Chris Harris and Rhys Lloyd to lose their poo over?

Brad Hoover?

Is that the guy who's 33 at one of the most phyical positions in football?

The guy who played only 11 games with a nagging injury?

Who in his absence , double trouble still averaged over 150 yds per game?

Why is he such a big loss?

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
