John Kasay never kicked them out of the endzone

Correct me if I'm wrong on that. But Kasay has never been a booming placekicker, has he? And it was only in recent years that opponents started getting good field position regularly, right?

And correct me if I'm wrong on this too, but didn't they also get good field position in punt returns as well?

I'm posting about Lloyd here. We needed him to prevent the other team from getting a good return, preferably by preventing them from returning at all. How does that not speak to crappy coverage by our special teams?

I'm thinking that the Panthers decided that when they fired Crossman and made space in the salary cap, they figured that they would return to the days when we had good gunners and could stick the opposing team close to where they caught the ball. If we have them, then Lloyd is expendable.

Is that crazy thinking, or is it just what it is?

Kasay kicks his kickoffs higher than most place kickers. More hangtime= more time for his coverage team to get down the field.

He never put them through the endzone, but usually got them close. In the time leading up to when we got lloyd, he was only getting them to the 10 or so. That's unacceptable.

    • TMac got something. They limited h8s practice and reported it per the rules. Theres no trickery in play. Trickery would be suggesting hes playing for sure when hes not likely to. Trickery would be to force the opponent to consider more things than necessary. Theres no trickery angle here. Thats covered by the rules around injury reports and practice participation.
    • The CBA is like the devil relative to the quality of football we are given to consume. 100% killing the goose that laid the golden egg.    And there is for sure something to CRA’s claim of the simplification of the modern offense. And it originated in college and they did not service the NFL’s need for a training ground. I maintain that an NFL Europe, wherever it were to be located, was essential to keeping the pipeline of NFL ready players flowing.  Greed killed it. Now they are going to further pussify the leagues with NFL flag football. Rather than a true minor league  system that will produce replacement players
    • Betting odds are around 20% for a wildcard spot.  The overall odds are a bit better if you combine the possibility of winning the division.
