Do you compare the Moore/Delhomme situation to

Brady/Bledsoe or Rodgers/Farve

See, I always thought that Delhomme was a poor man's Brett Farve...

Don't get me wrong, Delhomme is no where compared to what Brett Farve has accomplished but both men are from the deep south and our gunslingers.

Then you have Aaron Rodgers, a laid back Cali dude, who, in limited time, showed that he can take over as starter and lead the Packers back to the promise land thus as he shown this past season. Also to note, that when he was drafted, he stayed behind Farve for a few seasons and learned from him.

Almost comparable is Matt Moore, who wasn't drafted but was a undrafted rookie that came into Carolina when Delhomme went down. He also was on the bench, learning behind Delhomme and now will walk into the starting role this season

I want to note that I don't think we are any where compared to the Packers but who knows, maybe we will get to the point where we are actually competing against them in the NFCCG.

Thoughts?

Thats an interesting comparison. Obviously, If we would have won the superbowl, people would be looking at Jake in a different light I think. However he is no where near as revered as Brett was. Also I think usually the laid back Cali guy would be hard to be embraced in the South. However you win games the people will love you. Just like Aaron Rodgers though, Moore has to start well. He doesn't really have a long leash imo around here since he isn't a high draft pick. However if we play close to last year level with this years schedule, we will play well enough to cement him as the starter for a few years.

If Matt Moore plays anywhere close to Aaron Rodgers I would be ****ing ecstatic. I wish no ill on Jake so as long as he is not in our way I wish him nothing but success.

not a Rodgers/Favre. maybe a Brady/Bledsoe. but I like to see it as a Warner/Green situation. both Warner and Moore went undrafted and both got the starting job due to an injury to the starter. Only difference is that Warner had more weapons than Moore. He had Torry Holt, Issac Bruce, Marshall Faulk, Ricky Prohel, and Az-Zahir Hakim. while Moore right now only has 3 big weapons in Steve Smith, DeAngelo Williams, and Jonathan Stewart.

I think the Brady comparison is unrealistic (plus the patriots cheated). Aaron rodgers played his ass off, if it wasn't for the fact that his left and right tackles look like turn styles and he still had a good year is a testament of how well he played. Also note he holds the ball to long sometimes too but sometimes got to take the good with the bad.

I think it's a valid comparison style wise... Delhomme is no Brett Favre, but his style was similar and I don't think Moore is Aaron Rodgers, (although one can hope) but he's a young guy stepping in for a veteran and will have a lot of pressure to get it done, so it's somewhat similar.

First off i agree Delhomme is like a poor man's Favre. I also want to address what Crimsontd Panthers said about Warner having more weapons. I think Jarrett, Smith, Stewart and Williams is pretty impressive. Add a WR or TWO in the draft or FA and we are as stacked. Torry Holt and Mardy Gilyard maybe?

    • I am trying to remember when I EVER said reach for need. My thing if someone falls you jump, if you can trade back a few slots and get help at the right value and pick up some ammo to move up from 51 which I think is outside the money zone, then you do that.   Take a WR later. Plenty of capable WRs have come from the 3rd round. Though this year I would go for C there if there was a reasonable choice. Take a TE if you must. I see more reason to take WR than TE. I think you give guys drafted two years ago and last year a chance to develop before cancelling them.    I think it is kind of unrealistic to throw everything all in on offense in hopes of going deep in the playoffs after an 8-10 year, even if it did have some nice bright spots in it.    And outside of this argument but relevant to it, I am bothered by Canales and Morgan and their apparent posture that we have arrived and are now in the big boy club. I don’t know where that comes from. They are out there talking like they are winners at 8-10. Backing into the playoffs in a real convoluted tie breaker scenario. They had some good games, yes. But the big feather n the cap, the LA Rams matchups, did you see what the Rams did? They didn’t fire the coaches but they fired their defensive backs. Bryce beat them yes, and it was pretty, but it was kind of like the Bucs and Mike Evans picking on our decimated secondary in 2022. Someone (Wilks) went down for allowing that to happen and they went down in LA too.  Wr aren’t as good as a whole lot of homers think we are. Shore up the trenches.    I think too many fans buy into it because they are so starved for anything that looks like a winner.
    • How exactly does one win OROY "by default"? Wouldn't winning the award mean that of the two, McMillon stayed strong the entire year while the other guy didn't and fizzled out? That's like saying Secretariat only won by default because the other horse stopped moving midway through the race. Absolutely zero logic in that statement, which makes me very glad that I've never really paid much attention to Walterfoozball.
    • I agree, teams in the past have fired the HC in order to retain a coach on staff...hell it happened to Mcderp this year, rams in the past and Im missing another.  The fall off for the Panthers team defense was huge once Mcderp leftd and Ron could not fix it even when he named himself DC.
