Peppers or Delhomme: Which one is more overpaid?

Julius Peppers: His 6-year contract to the Bears is worth $91.5 million with $42 million guaranteed. Peppers will make $40.5 million over the first three years.

Jake Delhomme: We owe him $12.7 million for cutting him. No offset. And now, the Browns have signed him for $7 million making him the highest paid player in the NFL next year.

First off, MANY nfl players are overpaid. but thats another discussion that I won't get into. to answer this question based on performance alone, Delhomme is ridiculous overpaid.

The only players I consider not overpaid are the UDFA/Late Round picks. I mean in what occupation do the cheapest greeniest people make 300K. I always hear the excuse about short playing career. Well I had a good friend who was a radiologist and he retired by 40 after going to school for 8 years and he didn't make as nearly as much as an average football player. So the only reason they need so much is because pro athletes are usually horrible money mangers.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
